How much time for computers, console games and TV?
MommyToAshley wrote: Just curious to see if you limit the time on TV, computer games, and console and handheld games.
stella6979 replied: I do try to limit it to at least 2 hours per day, but on rainy days or sick days, we do watch a lot of t.v.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I put yes, under one hour. But, I don't limit time in the summer, to speak of. I mean, they are outside most of the day anyway and aren't interested in TV much. But during school Maddie isn't allowed to come home and turn on the TV. They watch some after dinner, before bed.
My3LilMonkeys replied: I try to limit TV time to an hour in the morning and an hour at night, so 2 hours total. Some days they do watch more depending on what else we have going on that day, other days they don't watch any at all.
Calimama replied: She can watch 2 shows on Nick Jr in the morning and 1 Barney video after her nap.
Crystalina replied: During the summer they watch more t.v. I don't limit that at all. During school we just don't have the time. As far as games go, my kids don't have hand held games yet, they only have the computer and I have to limit Evan because he turns zombie like when it comes to hotwheel.com. Izabella barely bothers with it.
5littleladies replied: I put 1-2 hours but I really want to pare that down quite a bit.
MommyToAshley replied: We're in the 1-2 hours as well. But, every now and then I will have a ton of work and I'll let her stay on the computer a little longer. She's really not into TV except she does watch Hanna Montana, and even when the TV is on, she's usually doing something else.
holley79 replied: I dont' really put a limit on it. The TV is on when we are stuck in the house due to weather she is mostly playing with her toys and will come to where the TV is if she hers a tune she likes or something like that. She doesn't sit in front of the TV for long periods of time so I don't restrict it.
stella6979 replied: You mean Annika will play all by herself!!!!??!!!! Maybe she can have a talk with Avery about that.
holley79 replied: Yes she actually will. LOL Just bring Avery over and she won't have to play by herself.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Computer time is different because several school subjects have computer tie ins. She likes to watch Noggin and Disney but is usually playing or doing something else while the TV is on. We also limit the shows she can watch-ie no Life with Derrik,Phineus and Pherb,etc.....
Teesa®© replied: I don't actually put a limit on anything, but do monitor their time.
If they don't have any homework and ask to watch TV, then they watch till supper. If something they're watching is still on, they watch while eating. I DO, however, limit WHAT they watch.
Since we have 3 puters, I don't really limit time as they can each be on one without anyone else begging for a turn.
If it's the weekend and they've been watching TV all day, I'll turn it off and tell them it's time to get active. Same for the summer.
moped replied: He isn't addicted yet, so I don't. He might be on for half hour per week right now
gr33n3y3z replied: I never put a limit on the computer or tv bc they will only sit there so long and get bored anyway. But my kids are old enough to make their own decissions for themselves except for Katie but she is very good when it comes to doing stuff in the real that I dont have to worry about her time limit
PrairieMom replied: Ben has to earn his "mario minutes" 5 at a time by doing chores like feeding the dog, and cleaning his room. He rarely gets more than an hour a day.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Depends on the days and situation. During times where we have a lot of house stuff to do, Tanner may play more on the computer or watch more tv. Or, if it is crappy outside and he can't play. I did vote 1 hour because that is the "norm", but under certain circumstances it may be more, or sometimes it may be none at all.
Cece00 replied: Yeah my kids rarely watch more than 2 hrs a day total. They also havent played video games in WEEKS b/c their batteries died & I couldnt find the charger...
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I put limit to under an hour - but really it depends... sometimes in the mornings the kids like to cuddle with me... and I'm not quite ready to get out of bed... so they can watch cartoons while I'm still half sleeping... that's aywhere from 10 - 30 minutes, depending on how quiet they're being.. lol
Sometimes if I'm pretty busy, I'll put a video on or something to keep them distracted for a little while, so i can finish up what needs my almost 100% attention..
Otherwise, they don't watch tv with me around. I don't know/care whether they watch tv when they get home from school... that's the nanny's job... they're fed, homework's done and they're happy, so whatever...
weekends we do other things... we don't watch tv much...at all, actually...
summertime... there's probably going to be more tv watching... this is the first summer really that i've worked out of the home all day in the past few years... so we'll play it by ear... i'm sure there will be plenty of tv watching... lol
