How much do you pay for childcare - per week
mckayleesmom wrote: I was just reading our welcome packet that gives us information about everything on base. If Im reading this right...if I ever wanted to put the kids in daycare...it would cost us 378 a week for full days.....Yikes...thats over a thousand dollars a month...they are on crack. And thats just based on dh's income....it would be more if I got a job. Now I know what Im going to go to school for....daycare work...
toothytracie replied: In my area, it is between 70 & 110 dollars per week for full time. In a bigger town 30miles from here it is 125 and up. I would get a nanny to come to my house for that much!
amynicole21 replied: I pay $242.50/week for full days - both kids.
mckayleesmom replied: is that per child?
kit_kats_mom replied: I pay 155 wk for K full time. When Lauren starts full-time it will be 1200 mo for both.
amynicole21 replied: No, total! Thank goodness
b&bsmom replied: You don't want to do daycare as a job. It doesn't pay. I know. I worked in daycare since I was a teen and when I left 6yrs ago after having Brit I was making $9 an hour as a teacher of 3yr olds. I watch children in my home now and I charge $40 a day but I also provide everything but diapers and formula. I think daycare around here for an infant full days is over $200 a week. Not totally sure but when I left daycare the center I worked for was charging $190 a week for infants. It gets cheaper the older they get but on my salary then I would not have been able to afford care. It is crazy
Maddie&EthansMom replied: My mother has a daycare and she charges $80/week.
Kaitlin'smom replied: $120 a week full time, my sister found one who is $3 an hour (to me that can add up much faster than a weekly rate)
~KARA~ replied: When My oldest was in day care it was 100$ a week 400 a month. If I put all 3 of my kids it would cost 900 or more dollars a month. They charge more for babys! Thats why Im a sahm!
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: Well Mackenzie goes to a home daycare on the days my mom can't watch her. She charges $17.00 for a full day, or $3.00 an hour and then charges you whatever is cheaper.
3_call_me_mama replied: It all depends on where you live and the kind of care. Childcare centers are generally more expensive than in home, also under age 2 is more . I watch a little girl at my house full time and i get $100 a week for her. She just turned 1. If i were to enroll Kathleen at a center near here it would be $125 a week.
oh and having an in home nanny is MUCH more expensive. I was one for a year and i made $20 an hour. Compared to the $1-3 per hour that a home daycare provider makes. The family had 2 kids age 2 1/2 and 5 and it was about $1000 a week befoer taxes.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I was lucky enough to find a center here in town that charges part-time rates for infants. Because of my wacky work schedule, Logan is only in daycare every other week. So, even though they are 8 hour days, the center only charges me for a part-time month. I pay $200/month. If it was full-time it would be $400. And they love the little guy so much they let me drop him off for a few hours if I have an appointment or a mandatory meeting at work.
boobies4virtue replied: Virtue is the only grandbaby. We don't Normally have to pay a sitter. That and I work midnights so the only day we need a sitter anyway is on Tuesday from 12 midnight until 2 am when her dad gets home.
My2Beauties replied: We pay Brian's grandma $80 a week for Hanna, Desiree we pay $40 a week because now school is back in, it's $80 iuf she isn't - but they go to two different people. I bet Brian's grandma will only charge us $20-30 a week once Hanna starts school! Hopefully by the time Hanna goes to school we're making enough so I can only work part-time hours while she is in school and be off when she gets on and off the bus! So we won't ever have a sitter!
Boys r us replied: I pay $100/wk but that's cheap around here, but she's a family friend, so she cuts me a deal and that's just for braedon. Now when he starts preschool, b/c we have selected a private "extended learning, crunchy..haa haa sort of place" it's going to be off of the hook expensive! We're talking $200 week for the hours of 8:15 to 2pm and then on top of that we have to pay an additional before school "daycare" fee of 9/day for 7am-8:15am and an after school "daycare" fee of $9 b/c he gets out of pre-school at 2 and I don't get off until 3:30. So...$58 a day! which is $290.00/week! Supposedly it will be worth it We'll see!
jacobsmama replied: WOW....I only pay 10.00 a day for my son...that is only 1 child but even full time for 1 that is only 50.00 a week!!!! I can't imgaine 200-300!!! Once I have 2 children I will be a SAHM but wow...I'm in the wrong field with nursing I need to do some daycare!!!
mummy2girls replied: wow that is alot. Jennas daycare fulltime is 550 a month..so that would be just over 100 a week.
3_call_me_mama replied: UMMM< Don't switch professions just yet. Not sure how much you make nursing, or how long your kiddo is in daycare, but I watch 1 littel girl age 1 from 7-4 5 days per week, and get paid $100 per week. So 45 hours a week (sometimes longer) and $100/week... do the math and it's $2.22/ hour. add in the cost of meals adn snacks that I supply. (About $5.00/ day for breakfast lunch adn 2 snacks) and that's only $75/week so .... $1.67 / hour. Still wanna trade jobs?! While some pay more for more kids it still is broken down the same. It may be $250/week for 2 kids for a 40 hour week, but that's still only $6.25/hour and if it's more than 40 hours it's less per hour and you are dealing with 2 kids as opposed to one. And most daycare providers are paid without taxes taken out, so we have to figure out our taxes out of the pay. Needless to say would you want to bring home Less than $60 a week for 45 hours work?! What about making $6.25/ hour and then taking taxes out of that. Still not really do able. Which is how you end up with overcrowded daycares (people trying to care for as many kids as possibel just so they can afford to stay home and break even or make a little money)
coasterqueen replied: I pay $100/wk for Megan and $90/wk for Kylie. When Megan turns one (or two can't remember) than it will be $90 a week. I think it's two. Anyways, we pay total of $190 a week. That's C H E A P around here!!!!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: It used to be 36$ a day, per child.... for a total of 360$ a week for both kids, and it would be 540$ a week for 3 kids.
That's 1440$ a month for 2 kids full time.... or, 2160$ for 3 kids full time.
At the moment, we're paying 23$ a day per child: so 230$ a week (920$ a month) for both kids.. After this baby, it will be 345$ a week, or 1380$ a month.
julesmom replied: I am a SAHM, but a friend does childcare in her home and charges $60 a day, whether the child is there all day or half. She has a waiting list!
CantWait replied: Well for one kid, I pay $540/month, no weekly rate. That rate does sound a little rediculous.
JAYMESMOM replied: I pay 25 a day for the in home daycare Jayme goes to.
If I was to put her in a center around here it would be 40-60 a day.
The going rate for babysitting here is 5/hour for 1 kid
7 for 2 and 10 for 3
aspenblue1 replied: Mine is at home daycare. I pay 25.00 a day 1st child and 12.50 a day next child.
aspenblue1 replied: I forgot to say if you go to school your school may have daycare. Mine does and at most it 2.50 an hour.
DblTblDad replied: I paid $20 dollars a day while my kids went to a friend's home daycare but there was a lady there who constantly brought her kids to daycare sick and the twins were getting really sick, and there was a nasty case of boils spreading throughout the kids. The other kids were really rough wiht the little ones and the older kids were allowed to carry the little kids around and even take them in the pool or their rooms alone. (8 year olds). I even saw the daycare worker smoking a cigerette while holding a toddler on her lap. We put them in public daycare in a big center with a special room just for their age group and I pay about 1500 i month i guess.
