How many times do you check on the kids - at night?

momof2girls wrote: Im wondering if Im a total nut. I check on my 2 girls several times a night, eventhough I can hear everything thru the monitor.
When I first moved the baby in her room at 4 months I slept on the couch for a month which was about 2 feet closer then my bed! DUH.
I have moved back to my bed but I still check on them all the time.
Am I a nut or a normal mommy???

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I think that is pretty normal. I usually check on Jade just before I go to bed. If I am up for a while after that I will check on her before I go to sleep. There have been times when I have awakened in the middle of the night with this urge to check on her so I do. We have a monitor too, but I just have to go in her room and see her every once in a while.

alice&arik replied: I usually check on Arik before I go to bed. In his toddler bed he seems to slide down a little bit off the pillow, and will look a little uncomfortable. I just make sure he looks ok in there.

Kaitlin'smom replied: I still check in on her at least once a night, and sometimes more if I wake upp and feel I need ot check on her.....I hope i am not still doing this when she is 16! rolling_smile.gif

coasterqueen replied: Once Kylie is down for the night I don't check on her unless I don't hear movement on the monitor. If I hear movement I know she's ok wink.gif.

5littleladies replied: I always check on my girls before I go to bed. Just to make sure they are all tucked in and sleeping comfortably. I don't usually have to check on them more than that-If they have a problem they come in and let me know it. rolleyes.gif Usually at least once a night. tongue.gif

Mom2Boyz replied: We CoSleep, so I'm there all the time. If he slept in his own bed, I'm sure I'd be checking on him several times during the night.
Sometimes he sleeps so sound, and so still that I'll catch myself just watching him sleep, to make sure he's breathing(I know, I'm a freak emlaugh.gif ) Oh well, I guess that's what Mommies do wub.gif

CantWait replied: I check on both kids before I go to bed at night, that's it.....usually if I check on Anthony in the middle of the night he wakes up, so I stay out.

momof2girls replied: Thanks Ladies
I dont feel so bad now, Im trying to not ck soooo much.

lsjulee replied: How about checking on your newly born?

I remembered after I brought dd home, I rose to check on dd almost every minute. Oh well, just to check if she was breathing, or if she was sleeping well, or if her nappy needed to be changed..... And she was in the crib right beside me. blush.gif That time, it kinda irritated Sean who called me paranoir.

Boys r us replied: Our monitor is super sensitive and I can hear him breathing through the monitor, so I only check on him before I go to bed, to cover him up.

kimberley replied: the boys... not at all unless i hear noise. Jade sleeps with me and any movement or sound she makes wakes me up. wacko.gif

dolfinrse replied: Either dh or myself check on Zack before we go to bed. After that we don't check unless he cries that something is wrong. wink.gif

A&A'smommy replied: NO NO not at all when Alyssa was sleeping in her bed and her before in her bassinet I probably woke every thirty minutes to an hour so I could put my had on her chest and make sure she was breathing! Now she sleeps with us because dh couldnt stand that she woke up so much and we love holding her so it works out for us! blush.gif

KatieLeigh79 replied: I check JR before I lay down to be sure he's asleep and comfy, otherwise he cries at night if/when he wants me - I even had to give up the monitor because he snores in his sleep just as bad as his daddy and has also been known to cry in his dreams which would make me jump out of bed and go turn a light on and find him sound asleep, then i was always unable to get back out of his room and turn the light off without waking him up .... so it just turned into more trouble on my part then good it seemed... (granted his room is only like 7 steps away from ours so I can get to him within a matter of seconds if need be) smile.gif

jem0622 replied: Never. But I can hear them if they are crying due to a bad dream or illness.

holdensmom replied: biggrin.gif Just once or twice before going to bed myself. When Holden was a newborn, he slept in a bassinet right next to me & I would lay my hand next time so I could feel him breathing. I would also check on him constantly. When he moved into his room, I would turn the monitor up loud enough so I could hear him breathe. Gee, I thought I was the only wacko out there too!!!!

Guess it is a mom thing!
