How many bedrooms... - with 3+ kids?

Cal&Camsmom wrote: For those with 3+ kids, how many bedrooms to you have? & how do you have them arranged? Especially when they're boy/girl.

Thanks! smile.gif

Ashes78 replied: We have 3 kids and 3 bedrooms. The Zachs are both 9 yrs old and they share a room with bunk beds. The baby has his own room. We are planning on adding onto the house once things get more settled around here.

Brenda2005 replied: We have 3 kids and 3 bedrooms right now. I have a boy and girl in one bedroom in bunk beds and my oldest son in his own room. Since we're going to soon have 4 kids, we're looking into a 4- 5 bedroom home

MomToMany replied: We have 5 kids & 3 bedrooms for them. Logan (the oldest) has his own, then Quentin & Ethan share, and Hannah & Kayla share one. When the next baby comes, s/he will room with us for the first 6 months or so, then we will have to do some rearranging. Logan might have to share with Quentin, then Ethan & Hannah will share, the Kayla & the baby.

Boys r us replied: We only have two kids right now, but they each have their own room and when we have another baby, I like the idea of a new baby having it's own room too, but I also like the idea of having a room for out of town guests as well..soo I don't know yet!

booey2 replied: Well we have 2 children and we have 3 bedrooms and DH has finally accepted it was time to go get the big "V" done so it may happen in the next 6 months. (I got off topic here sorry) My sister has 4 children the oldest being a 13 yr old girl and has 3 bedrooms. Needless to say she and her DH took over the basement and made it into their bedroom but they have recently bought a new 5 bedroom home and move at the end of August. So for now, my neice gets her own room, the two middle boys share and the baby gets his own room with the parents in the basement.

danahas4monkeys replied: we have 4 kids 2girls 2 boys and they all have their own rooms we have a very old very large house that was previously used as a student rental so the attic is technically a bedroom and the room we use as a computer room is technically a bedroom we have those 2 rooms on the first floor, the 4 kids currently all have their rooms on the second floor, should we have more (fingers crossed) kimberly the oldest will move to the attic and the baby would get her room after a few mths.

mammag replied: We have 4 kids and the rooms are divided right now as Kristen & Keegan have their own rooms and Cade & Conner share but we are in the process of getting Cade moved to Keegan's room and Keegan will be with Conner. Since he's older I think he needs a space of his own and Keegan pretty much sleeps in our room so he might as well share a room with Conner so The two older kids will have a room of their own and the two youngest will share.

CCTandME replied: We only have 3. Right now all 3(girls) share a room. We close on our house July 27, then Cailee (6yo) gets her own rm and Camryn (3) will share w/ Teagan (1).

There were 4 of us growing up (all girls). My oldest sis got her own room. Then my sis 1yr older than me shred w/ my sis 1yr younger than me. I got my own room. She had it at forst, but lost it because she wouldn't keep it clean. That was at 1 house. We moved over 20 times in 19 yrs so sometimes we all had to share. When my parents divorced my mom had a 1br apt and another baby girl. Then she got a 2br and then she married my sisters dad and they bought a house. Now they have a 3br, no kids at home.

jcc64 replied: We have a 3 bedroom house. Corey has her own beautifully decorated bedroom, which she has yet to sleep in (she still sleeps with us). The boys share a large bedroom which is comically divided right down the middle. A permanent wall between the two halves would be a beautiful thing, and we are looking into doing just that. Alec is almost 13, and he really needs his space-for our sanity as well as his.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: 2 kids (3 with baby)
3 bedrooms - but we are using the playroom as a nursery for the time being - all the toys fit into the other kids' rooms anyways, so count that as a 4th bedroom, and if need be, we could convert the comupter room into a temporary bedroom as well, so really, 5 bedrooms.

However - we aren`t supposed to use the playroom and computer rooms as bedrooms - because of health and safety - there isn`t a window connecting to the outside. Which in my opinion is STUPID - but the inspector can come in at any time. We are allowed to use it fpr the baby until the baby is able to walk and follow a ''command'' to come when called.... because until then, we'd have to go in and get the baby anyways - so there's no point for a window.

So - we technically have 5 rooms that can be used as a bedroom. emlaugh.gif

redchief replied: 4 kids and 3 bedrooms. The boys are older and their room as actually in my parents' part of the duplex (though I own that room; it's a little weird but it works). My daughters share a room. I expect soon both boys will be moving on and then we'll probably give one of the girls the "back room". It's a little cramped in the girls' room right now.

Cal&Camsmom replied: Thanks for all your posts! DH & I are in a 2 bdrm. house in So. Cal. We have 2 kids. A 9 1/2 yr. old boy & a 2 1/2 yr. old daughter. We have bunkbeds in their room, which is basically our sons room, our daughter still co-sleeps. We're working on that though...lol. Anyway, we want to start ttc #3, but are worried about space. We usually co-sleep the first 2 yrs. so the sleeping arrangement for the baby isn't the problem (no crib, etc.).

Our house is small, around 1100 sq. ft. but is expensive (we rent), it's about $500,000 if we were to buy. 3 bedrooms go for over $700,000 sometimes. We just can't afford anything to buy (bigger) for a while. I figure that by the time the baby is 2 yrs. then we can move or something. I'd rather be in a small 2 bdrm. house than a smaller 2 bdrm. apt with 3 kids & no yard, ykwim?

It took us a bit to have our dd (2 1/2), about 14 mos. so who knows! Maybe we'll be moved by the time I get pg! tongue.gif

Please keep posting though, I'm interested in hearing more!

OMG the prices for homes in Cal are outrageous. A 3+ bedroom home here starts at around $90,000 ohmy.gif Whew that is high! I mean granted they may get up to about $200k and that is high here for a 3 bedroom home.

JAYMESMOM replied: I only have two now but growing up their were 4 of us. 3 girls and a boy. All us girls shared and then my brother had his own.

When my sister and I moved out each remaining sibling got their own room but not long after my grandma moved in and my bro and sister shared. Grandma got her own room.

I have a friend with 4 and boys are in one room and girls in another. The fifth is on its way and will share one of the rooms with the older ones.

We have a 3 bedroom house and when baby 3 comes then it will share with my daughter regardless of its sex since she has the slightly bigger room.

Isn't it nuts??? I grew up in this city, great schools, it's near L.A., but NOT L.A., we're our own city. Anyway, my parents sold their house 2 yrs. ago on the street behind us. It was a nice size house, 2 bdrm., den, living room, pool. NICE house. It sold for $425,500. If they would've waited til now to sell they probably would've gotten $600,000 for it. They only paid $25,000 for it when it was new 30 yrs. ago!!!

Not only that there aren't any houses out here w/basements or it's even rare to have a house in our city with more than 3 bdrms!

I wish we could move, but dh works in the videogame/audio/news area out here, he can't do that in another state that offers what he can do. All the studios are out here.

~KARA~ replied: WE have a 3 bedroom home with 2 dd's and a lil boy on the way. The girls have shared a room since February. I wanted to let them have their own rooms untill The baby was here but was afraid of how long it woul dtake teh younger dd to adjust to a different room. The babys room is a play room right now cause when he gets here he will be in me and dh's room for 2 or 3 mo.
