How gross is

kit_kats_mom wrote: your DH/SO?

This was inspired by Maestras post about her DH cleaning her house. I'm totally jealous.

Mine has gotten a lot better since we got married and had Katherine but his standards are no where near mine...which tend towards OCD blush.gif He is really trying though.

Here are a few doozies from awhile back.

He actually told me that vaccuming twice a year was adequate! ohmy.gif I seriously almost died and got sick thinking about all of the times I walked around his apartment barefoot when we first met. UGH!

Of course I knew what i was getting myself into before we got married. I remember waking up one morning at his place and going to use the bathroom. I was a little hungover (ok ALOT hungover) but I spotted a mushroom growing in a corner. I couldn't believe my eyes and I distinctly remember getting up and kneeling down to get a closer look to verify that yes, it was indeed a mushroom. EW!!!!!

It was so bad and disturbed me so much that one night I slept walked into the kitchen and was cleaning his stove. Trust me, this stove was NASTY dirty! His ex room-mate still teases me about it since he was the one that found me in there, buck-nekkid, with a burner in one hand, paper towel in another and just scrubbing the crap out of the stovetop at 3am. We almost broke up over that one...DH had a hard time with his room-mate seeing his GF naked. LOL I'm still pretty embarassed about that but I can laugh about it now. blush.gif

Anyway, I'm just curious if any of your Dh's/SO's or wives for you fellas were or still are dirty. LOL

redchief replied: More like constant clutter here. Mostly due to the kids though (ages 12 - 20) They walk in the door and start shedding... EVERYTHING. DW get's nuts about it. About twice a year she just shuts down and swears off children, husband and everything. That generally gets the house cleaned up... until the next time.

mummy2girls replied: OMG that was funny about stove!!!!!!!! Im crying because im laughing so hard! LOL

Aron was and is still pretty nasty. When i was pregnant with jenna i refused to let her be in his house when she was born until the place was cleaned. So of course i had to do it because he of course is allergic to cleaners. The bathroom was so gross. The tub i cleaned was black but amazingly i found white under. The walls were yellow because of his mom smoking and brother smoking all the time. the kitchen was just so gross i almost couldnt stomach it. The sad thing about this all is his mom lived with him at that tinme and geez you would think she would clean. I had to quit for the day because when i got down on the floor there was old food crumbs, cig butts and such. I swore that jenna would not be allowed in that place until it was cleaned. It took me 2 weeks to get it done...YUCK!!!!!!!

Now he isnt as bad but he has his moments. He hates doing dishes. but i have to admit he has improved because everything is clean except the toilet. But that is not that bad. Who here likes to clean toilets..LOL.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I think I'm the only woman in the world with a DH who is a neat freak. I'm not a clean freak. It is the least important thing on my list (which drives him INSANE). He does compliment me when the house is 'picked up', but it doesn't get vacuumed or dusted as much as it should. blush.gif He helps me out a lot more now that Ethan is here. I am like redchiefs DW...every couple of months I will get so tired of it and have fallen really far behind on my duties and I will go through a cleaning spree. It is just the everyday maintenance that I can't keep up with. tongue.gif I do okay for awhile, but then it goes to pot.

So, to answer your question, I'm the gross one! blush.gif

loveydad replied: well, let me tell you - neither one of us is a clean freak or especially dirty. There are stacks and stacks of stuff needing to be sorted though! we have a whole room full of old baby gear that needs to be sold. We just get used to the mess, she or i neither are the kind of people who constantly go through picking up after the kids. After each day or during naptime i do- or she does or whatever..

just don't go into my office....YIKES! you'll get trapped and never come out. Once my son when in there and found things i didn't even know i sitll had from my ex....yuck!

redchief replied: We used to have a "sock bag." A plastic bag full of socks that need to be sorted and claimed by whatever tootsies own em.

Now we have 2. UGH!

Boys r us replied: OMG!! That's so funny about the stove!!!!!

I'm a very neat person..but my DH is OCD about it!! He's 100x neater than I am!

amynicole21 replied: My DH is the tidy one, but I am the one obsessed with germs. I guess we compliment eachother somehow wacko.gif

My2Beauties replied: I must confess I can be quite messy! I am good at throwing clothes everywhere, putting off dishes etc...my DF gets stuck straightening up the majority of the time. When I do clean up Hanna comes behind me and messes everything up! laugh.gif When my mom takes Hanna on Sundays we clean up the whole day!!! That is our real cleaning day but of course by Tuesday of the next week the house is chaos again!

Kaitlin'smom replied: well we used to be horrible house keepers when we had a townhouse wich is now about 10 years ago, we both have gotten so much better about the main part of the house, but ummm our bedroom well lets not go there, I have to keep the dorr shut when Kaitlin is up, so not kid proofed and so much she could hurt or get hurt by. I know I need to clean my room if I ever have the hopes of telling her to keep hers clean, I am starting to work on that. We are doing some major thing to the house so hopefully I can get my room claned up, its really huge but with all the I dont know where ot put this stuff in there its starting to look really small laugh.gif

oh and thanks for the reminder I need to clan the house again (does it ever stop?) I really am thinking of having some one in to help ever other week, I just can not seem to keep up

DansMom replied: DH and I are the opposite---he's the neat freak. He thought twice about continuing to date me after he saw my apartment, particularly the stove and the bathroom. sad.gif I'm a lot better now that I have had a few years of training and a child to set a good example for. In fact, I now notice all the stuff that I used to be oblivious too and am bothered by it, so DH must be rubbing off on me.

But this is a touchy topic for me today! Just this morning, DH was in the kitchen while I wolfed down a frozen waffle. He held up the margarine tub: Are you done with this?? Then he held up the syrup bottle: Are you done with this?? I just glared at him. It's an old argument that I don't put stuff away quickly enough. Then he said---I just want our son to know by example that we put things away. Anyway, I'm obviously still working on it and not always succeeding.

amynicole21 replied:
LOL! Yep, that's how it goes in our house. Except I have flipped out on DH for putting things away before I'm done with them, so now he just pretends to be doing something else until he KNOWS I'm done with it then swoops in to put it in it's proper place rolleyes.gif He's starting to rub off on Sophia, too... she flips out if I leave a cabinet door open dry.gif

kit_kats_mom replied:
LOL.
I'm not that bad. I usually wait until he's left the room before I wipe up crumbs/put stuff away etc. tongue.gif

The one thing he hates is that I am always picking up his cups and putting them in the dishwasher. How am I to know that the 3 half full cups that are in different rooms are all in use at once? wacko.gif biggrin.gif

due_any_day replied: DH and his brother used to drive me nuts with how messy they got. I remember i had gone to visit matt a day after valentines day *we both had to work V-day but didn't really care because of bad past V-day experiences...anyway* In his brothers room which doubles as the computer room there was a tiny little cooler like you'd fill to take to the shore or to a sporting event. on it were two wine glasses, an empty wine bottle, a heart shaped pan with dried jell-o in it and plates that obviously had food on them. I didn't exactly care. It was from Bill and his girlfriend. It was Bills mess. I'm not touching it.....

about two months later it was still there and practically asking to be named, if it could move out and did i know any other mold that was single and looking. and lets not talk about the bags of garbage piled on the balcony and in the kitchen when the garbage chute is three feet down the hall from their apartment.

it was not cool especially with a preggo-s heightened sense of smell.

i went nuts and cleaned up everything. bought lysol and all kinds of cleaners and cleaned while they were both at work. i told matt if it ever got like that again i wasnt coming over for a very long time.

it was so gross puke.gif

coasterqueen replied: My DH is more tidy than I am it seems so there isn't anything really gross he does. Now me on the other hand....well I won't reveal. ROFL.

Josie83 replied: Neither of us are particularly clean or dirty, we just do it as we go along! the house is always clean but sometimes not totally tidy if that makes sense. cassie helps us to tidy up now which is always a help! rolleyes.gif wub.gif xx

jcc64 replied: Cary, omg, the mushroom in the corner is hilarious!!!!
Dh is pretty gross too, blows his nose into his hands in the shower, and sometimes hits the walls or shower curtain instead. Not a pleasant way to start the day, kwim?!

kimberley replied: DH isn't too bad about things. worse he gets really is a pile of laundry on his side of the bed and stacking crap on the desk/table. not dirty, just cluttered. my ex on the other hand is a total freakin pig!!! i swear i want to kill him most days (he rents my self-contained basement). his mom came over this week to tell me he had a stack of pizza boxes in his room, a plate of food on the table beside his bed with ants crawling all over it and there are a million fruit flies down there on any given day. every table and the floor has empty plates and cups with dried/rotting food on it (he only uses paper so he doesn't have to wash them) and don't even get me started on his nasty bathroom. the guy brushes his teeth and shaves in the car while he is driving to work so he can sleep that little extra, spitting on the highway. he is by far the most disgusting human being i have EVER met. even his mom doesn't know how he got that way. if the boys didn't love their dad so much, i am sure Jamie or i would have killed him by now wacko.gif

My2Beauties replied:
ROFL, my DF will shoot snot out of his nose outside when he doesn't have a tissue, so this big gob of snot is hanging from his nose until he shoots it all the way out puke.gif

due_any_day replied:
*gags* holy he**. thats just... blargh.... puke.gif
