How do you put your baby to sleep at night?

MommyToAshley wrote: Just curious...we are in the "nurse to sleep" category. But, I love nursing her and watching her go to sleep. wub.gif During the day, she can go to sleep on her own.

Schnoogly replied: I voted "rock" since that tends to work at the end, but it's a whole system really. First walk around a bit, then nurse, then I hold him and sit on the balance ball and bounce around. Sometimes he wants his binky, sometimes not. If this doesn't work we lather, rinse, repeat as long as necessary. Sometimes he will go to sleep lying down and nursing, but not often!

momofajcl replied: I nurse Nicholas but he is awake when I put him down for the night. He will chatter at himself and play with his aquarium and the music from the aquarium usually seals the deal. He will fall asleep usually within 5 or 10 minutes after I leave his room.

chloe&tysmommy replied: I rock Chloe to sleep at night, but during the day I lay her down in her crib and she falls asleep on her own. snooze.gif

5littleladies replied: Brianna just goes to sleep on her own-it's nice but sometimes I miss nursing her to sleep. bawling.gif If she is out of her bed then who cares what time it is-to her it's playtime!!

ediep replied: I was torn between the rock to sleep vote and the nurse to sleep vote, because Jason is bottle fed but he falls asleep at night with me (or DH) giving him a bottle while rocking in the rocking chair. wink.gif
During the day, he may fall asleep with a bottle or on his own.

Heather replied: I chose other because we rock Alison for a little bit then we put her down awake. I miss nursing her at night so I have to rock her alittle bit just to get my fix.

paradisemommy replied: We fit in the nurse to sleep category but I am loving every bit of it. I just keep thinking before long, he's gonna be big and not want this anymore so I am soaking up all the loving that I can smile.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: I chose other because:

1) Zach is bottle fed, so does not nurse

2) We don't have a rocking chair, but our daycare provider (tells us that she) rocks him to sleep for his mid-morning nap

3) Our daycare provider (tells us that she) just puts Zach in the playpen she has in her living room for his afternoon nap, and he will fall asleep on his own

4) At night, it's usually a mix of all of the above - he can feed himself while we make dinner (with his bottle), then he will eat somehting while we eat, then play in his highcahir until we are done and dinner is put away, then bath time, then pacifier in mouth, baby on us as if he was nursing, we move around, he falls asleep, we put him in his crib.

5) In the middle of the night, we just rbign him back to our bed with us, he falls asleep either on me, and we sleep that way, or he snuggles up to daddy while lying between us.

MomToMany replied: We are in the 'nurse to sleep' catagory. Soon enough she will be done nursing ohmy.gif , and I want to soak up every minute I can smile.gif ! She goes to sleep on her own during the day, usually just crashes on her Bankey in the livingroom. She still gets up once a night, and I just nurse her back to sleep happy.gif .

Kaitlin'smom replied: I choose other, because sometimes she is rocked to sleep and other times she falls asleep while nursing. Around 7:30ish she gets into her jamies and then I nurse her and if she does not fall asleep either DH or I rock her to sleep. baby.gif

CantWait replied: It all comes down to that darn baby swing, it worked when nothing else would. Definetly my best buy.

dhoppygirl replied: I usually nurse Peyton to sleep while rocking him. If he doesn't go to sleep while nursing, then I rock him up in his room and sing to him for a while and then lay him down. He will go to sleep on his own if he is still awake and I lay him in his crib. For naps, daddy gives him a bottle of EBM and then puts him in his crib; either he is already asleep or he will fall asleep on his own; at church on Sundays, we give him his pacifier and hold him and he falls asleep during the sermon!! baby.gif

Roxworld replied: Aidan definitely fits into the rock category. I remember when dh and I were doing our registry...I didn't want to put the glider on there, because I was embarrased....those things are expensive!! But dh said...."go ahead, this is our dream list" I never thought I would get it....but BIL surprised us.....boy am I glad we have it. That thing is like magic! 5 to 10 min is all it takes.....sometimes with his binky, and he is asleep. other times he just falls asleep on his own....especially in the evening, while dh is watching tv...Aidan watches with him on his lap, and falls asleep there.

Mom2Gabriella replied: i put gabriella in her crib awake and she "talks" to her mobile for a little while and then falls asleep. in rare cases when she really cranky i give her water and she takes a few sucks and falls asleep.

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
Wow Rhiannon.... that's amazing!!! I'd LOVE for Zach to be able to fall asleep on his own!!!
