How do you gas up now? - With the high prices

luvmykids wrote: I'm just curious, I was putting $20 or $30 here and there and hoping it would get me where I needed to go but it started to seem like I had to do it every other day. So last week I filled up and after I recovered from the price shock, decided it HAD to last two weeks. I feel like I've done my normal driving but still have almost 3/4 of a tank.

mom21kid2dogs replied: We get ours at Kroger because we grocery shop there so we always fill up because of the gas reward discount program. It still takes my breath away that it costs $45 to fill my little car now. When we got it in '02 it cost $15 to fill.

Danalana replied: It costs us $60 per vehicle!
We fill up when needed, regardless.

MommyToAshley replied: It costs $75 to fill our tank. It still makes me cringe every time I have to fill up the tank. I had to drive about 2 hours away the other day for a meeting and I found myself adding up the cost to drive there and back -- if it wasn't a business meeting, I wouldn't have driven that far. It's ridiculous -- grrr, I get mad every time I think about it.

Our Lil' Family replied: I always fill up completely, and try my darnedest to make it last. This past tank lasted me 13 days, I was SO excited considering it costs me $90/tank!

luvmykids replied:
Me too, Sams is actually still a tad cheaper but I have to drive so far to get there it's not worth it. I try to plan my grocery shopping right so I can get the .15/gallon discount thumb.gif

Crystalina replied: To fill up our truck it costs (last time) $95. It doesn't last long with us because we live 20 minutes from anything. When DH gets paid we fill it up but most of the time I just put in what I have or what I need. I can't stand paying the $95 at one pop but then again my little $20 here or there doesn't get me far. dry.gif

youngmomofone replied: Right now I'm driving my dad's older truck to town for things needed so I only put 20 or so in there and it lasts a long time as i only have to go to town 4x a month by myself as my mom usually goes once a week and I'll ride with her when she goes if I have to do any additional errands.

HuskerMom replied: I never fill up my car completely. I usually just put in $20 a week and it gets me by.

My3LilMonkeys replied: With DH's car which is used the most we fill it up usually. A tank only lasts a week or so these days with errands, him driving back and forth to work and my OB appointments being 45 min away and up to weekly now dry.gif .

My car I fill up and it lasts a month or more - it's been about 6 weeks this time and it's ready to be filled again. It only gets driven 1 or 2 days a week though.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: We fill up and then make it last as long as possible. Dh drives his car to work, and the van we drive 2 times a week - Bible study with our friends on thursday nights and Church softball on sundays. We're not even going to church right now - Dh can't anyways since he works all night saturdays and has to sleep in the morning, but I'm not willing to drive all the way there, then come back for Dh so we can go to stupid softball. dry.gif

mckayleesmom replied: I usually put about 15 bucks in a week and it usually lasts for the week. Dh doesn't drive far for work and I try to drive as little as possible.

kimberley replied: usually about half a tank a week and we are definitely more conscious of how we use it now. half a tank is about $50. ohmy.gif sad.gif

lovemy2 replied: We fill up a tank at a time with our eyes closed laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: It's about $115 to fill up my tank. The pump at Sam's stops at $100, though. So, I put in $100 every two weeks...sometimes I can go longer. I have to have premium too. dry.gif I told DH I would resort to driving a VW Beetle if I had to...that really, I wouldn't hold it against him if he bought one for me. So far it's not working...and I'm having to stay home a lot more and plan my outings better.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: OMG Aimee, that is A LOT!! Well gas is around $4.80 here right now. I gas up completely and just try and be cautious about where I drive. Fortunately this town is somewhat small and I really don't drive too much. DH commutes, and his company doesn't reimburse gas like his last job did, but he has the smaller car.
