How do you clean?
C&K*s Mommie wrote: This may seem like an odd question, maybe it has been asked here before. But I am curious, on "normal" activity days (i.e. sans guests, no exploding science projects, not having a billion errands to run in 5hours, etc...) how do you clean?
~All day, doing little bits at a time. ~All in the AM, while the kids are temporarily occupied, or they are helping you ~While they nap ~When everyone is sleeping ~Or any combo, not mentioned
On "normal" days I get most done in the AM. On days I have class at night I spread it throughout the day, but on those days I also pick up & straighten up, more than I clean. On non-class days I tend to clean since my mind is more free.
mckayleesmom replied: A little bit of all of the above. I have no real system... . I do try to get major cleaning done when they are napping or after they go to bed at night...because I mop the floors and don't want them walking on them...
kit_kats_mom replied: In the mornings I empty the dishwasher and load up anything that didn't make it in the night before. I tidy the kitchen and set out lunch stuff & start a load of laundry I switch laundry & tidy up while I'm making lunch and the girls are occupied at the table with crayons. I clean the bathroom & put away laundry when they are taking a bath. these girls are ducks, they take 45 minute baths almost every day After dinner I clean up the dinner mess, run roomba, start the dishwasher, set coffee up to brew at 6, make the sippy cups for the next morning. After they go to bed is when I pick up toys and reclaim my carpet. LOL
We are instituting a "playroom floor must be free of toys before bathtime now though. K helps wipe down the table after dinner and now we will go pick up the toys before bath. That room is a disaster if it's left alone for more than a day.
C&K*s Mommie replied: I am envious. LOL We may stretch 10-15min baths with the girls. After about 5-7min is when they are asking to "get out" Even with toys, and such--nothing works to keep them in longer.
kayla's mama replied: I tend to clean when Kayla is napping and after she goes to bed before Jason gets home. Other than that I generally try to do some pick up and laundry throughout the day.
Kittilicious replied: Clean? What is this word you speak of?
I do it when I can... I feel like I am constantly cleaning though. Picking up this, wiping off that. The only time I don't clean is when I close my eyes.
JP&KJMOM replied: Well, since I work I NEVER clean during the week except the kitchen after supper. Usually on Saturday or Sunday one I start in the kitchen while I cook breakfast and go top to bottom. Kids usually pick up toys that have made it downstairs and I clean downstairs bathroom while they eat. Then I move upstairs and really get busy. They do pick up their toy room so I can vacumn in there. But usually I am done with the whole house by late afternoon and all I lack is laundry being put away. I get the laundry put away while the kids are in the tub too. Mine would stay all day if I let them.
Momof3inMe replied: I clean the most in the AM. I get DH and DS#1 out the door at 7 and I start from there. I will get a load of cloths in the washer and get the dishes ready to go and before we go to the bus stop load one is in the dryer and load 2 in the washer. When we get back from the bus DD and I will eat and do the dishes and clean the bathroom and fold cloths as they are done. I really try to get all my stuff done before nap time so I can do what I want for the afternoon. The only thing I like to do in the afternoon before DH comes home is vacuum. The kids play outside in the afternoon so for the most part its just a little clean up and the house looks good!
AlexsPajamaMama replied: I clean in the AM mostly. If we arent going to be home for the day I try to make sure the dishes are done and things are picked up the night before so I dont have a ton to do in the afternoon after being gone all morning. Sunday afternoons I wash floors. Laundry I do every other day.
I feel like if I do it as it needs to get done then I dont have major cleaning days!
holley79 replied: HA clean me? Are you kidding? Usually we do a full cleaning session once a week. I vaccum/ sweep daily though.
Brias3 replied: I am constantly doing pick-up and spot cleanings when the kids are distracted but get the actual cleanings done when my older two are at school and Mason is either napping or distracted. I don't have a specific day I do things necessarily. Laundry I do each day as well, at least a load or two worth otherwise I'd never keep up.
My3LilMonkeys replied: I clean here and there when I can - mostly before everyone gets up in the morning or after they're in bed at night.
Once a month or so DH and I will take a Saturday and clean the whole house, top to bottom.
ilovemybaby replied: Clean? You mean I'm meant to clean? LMAO Just kidding. Um... usually when Abby is napping or in the last two or three hours before Paul is due to be home HAHA I am a procrastinator when it comes to cleaning.
luvmykids replied: I don't have a system, I just have priorities. For me, the kitchen and bathrooms are priorities and everything else I do when I can. I usually sit and relax while they're napping/having quiet time and do bits and pieces here and there the rest of the time with the big push after they go to bed.
