How do they get her name wrong?

mckayleesmom wrote: I can see people mispronouncing Mckaylee's name if they have only heard it once and right after said MCKAYLA. I just don't understand how people get it wrong when reading it off paper. The other day at the Drs office they pronounced it Mckayla and even her new kindergarten teacher pronounced it Mckayla too. How do you see 2 e's at the end and give it an a sound? Her teacher even had it written everywhere correctly...I just don't understand. I did correct her and she appologized...It's a good thing Mckaylee didn't hear her say it wrong because she is not so nice correcting people...She gets a snotty little tone and says "It's Ma-kay-leeeee)... rolling_smile.gif

mammag replied: laugh.gif I think people just glance at things sometimes and don't even try to get names right. We get our last name pronounced Gregory some times and there isn't even an e or r..... huh.gif It's nothing like Gregory. And then I get Jenny or Jeanine a lot for my first name.

That sounds so cute the way she corrects people. emlaugh.gif I'm sure she gets sick of having to do it. Little ones aren't always as patient as we try to be.

MoonMama replied: I agree I think they just glance at something and say it without giving it much thought. rolleyes.gif

Crystalina replied: They just don't pay attention. Izabella is always being called Izabel. rolleyes.gif There's clearly an "a" at the end of her name.

mckayleesmom replied: I think what bugs me the most is that the teacher did it...She had also written it correctly numerous times on charts and stuff around the room..... rolleyes.gif

Celestrina replied: Same thing happens with my maiden name (Boardman). I can't tell you how many people would pronounce it "broadman".

Calimama replied: Seriously, I don't know how they could mess that up! People mess up Miabella's name too, in fact a lot of family members spell it Mia Bella... there's no space!!! It drives me crazy.

kimberley replied: people are stupid lol. people try to call Jade.. Jada. rolleyes.gif

BAC'sMom replied: I totally agree with Kimberley.

My kids names get screwed up all the time mad.gif

HuskerMom replied: They probably just glance and not really read it. I don't know how many times my name was pronounced like Johnny. It was so embarassing in school. I don't really have problems with people mispronouncing Keith and Summer's names. Although my uncle did ask if I spell her name with a Su or So. I don't know why he thought it was spelled So, I don't think Sommer is even a name. rolleyes.gif

paradisemommy replied: taven's been taking karate for 10 months now and his karate instructor STILL calls him "taveRn"..ya really think i would name my child after a drinking establishment?

Calimama replied:
I hear ya, subs would always pronounce it "Dennis". I wouldn't answer. tongue.gif

lisar replied: Everyone prononces Raygen's name wrong. It is prounonced like the president Ronald Reagan. And they always say Ray-gen as in General. It drives me nuts.

grandma replied: My mother, who is Kaleigh's great grandma, still call's her KAYLA....lol

angie1313 replied: I actually like your spelling and pronunciation more than Kayla...it's alot prettier.

my2monkeyboys replied: If it makes you feel any better my sister's nephew spent his whole first week at school not knowing where to sit, hang his bookbag, etc. because the teacher misspelled his name on everything. His name is spelled Conner and she had it Connor, and it took all week to figure out why she had to help him find everything. Finally his mom came in on Friday at the end of the day to check and see how things were going and they ended up figuring it out then. Of course the teacher apologized, but you would think they'd be a little more careful, esp when it's with a kindergartener.
