How bad do you think
cameragirl21 wrote: the economy is going to get when we finally hit the bottom of this economic slowdown? I don't believe we've seen the worst of it yet, do you? Your thoughts? fears? creative ideas of what you can do to ride it out? just curious.
PrairieMom replied: I don't know how bad it will get, we aren't really seeing it as much here, I know people have it way worse other places. I don't think things are going to get better for a while tho.
Kaitlin'smom replied: I just am not sure. I do know our paychecks are not going as far as they used to, everyting just seems to go up but our paychecks. We are looking into some options.
on a side note gas is slowly creeping down here I got it yesterday for 3.58 a gal. I hope it keeps creeping down.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Wow that's a great price! We are slowly creeping down as well but we're still at $3.91.
Kaitlin'smom replied: great would be in the $2 range or less, its better but still hurts to fill up a 25 glllon tank
my2monkeyboys replied: I think it may get a little worse, but I don't think it will get much worse. I think it takes time for recessions to go through their cycle, so while it may be getting close to the bottom, it will still take a little while to come back up (did that make ANY sense?? LOL) For now we try not to eat out too much, run errands all together, that sort of thing. We feel the crunch pretty bad bc DH is a self-employed trucker. He hauls used vehicles for car lots, and other than 2-3 that are still running good, most of our clients have dropped to almost nothing lately. So, we're struggling a bit but trying to stay positive.
seeingblue2 replied: I don't know..every time I see the gas go up I get worried but it's been coming back down here which makes me relax a tiny bit..lol
jcc64 replied: I think it's going to be a whole lot worse- sorry to sound so bleak. We just filled up our oil tank yesterday and it cost us $1100! Mind you, we don't have a huge house, and we don't raise the heat over 62, and we have a wood stove. When the heating season comes back around in the colder climates, in conjunction with bloated gas prices, there's going to be trouble. Gas prices might come down a few cents, but unless the speculating stops, believe me, these kinds of prices are here to stay. And most people who live paycheck to paycheck are just running up debt right now, but eventually, their credit is going to run out on them, and then what? That's what's been happening with the collapse of all the banks that lent money to high-risk home buyers. Banks are going to stop making loans, interest rates will climb, food prices will continue to be affected by the higher costs of shipping, and on and on. I'm pretty frightened, tbh.
luvmykids replied: That has already started...DH lost three houses for owners that had good solid credit ...underwriting didn't like the comps, their income ratio (although they are definitely in the normal range), etc.
I think it's going to get worse also, and I don't say this in a naieve way but I can't afford to freak over the things I can't control so we'll just put one foot in front of the other and deal with it as it comes.
Our Lil' Family replied: Yeah, the good old days of 4% interest on a 15 year mortgage are GONE, I'm learning that now as we're trying to build again. It's sad really, and it's probably only going to go up as Jeanne said, because the banks are struggling. Which makes me mad because the people that have good credit scores and pay their loans will be the ones having to pay higher interest to support these banks. Ok, enough, it's too early in the morning for me to get this upset!
lisar replied: I work in the construction industry and everytime we think we have hit rock bottom, we havent it gets worse. Seriously though sales have gone up alot latley. So I am not sure either way. I know gas prices are going down again which may help.
mummy2girls replied: and this is all because of? WOW! Im starting to be glad that I am in Alberta Canada.
jcc64 replied:
You should be! May we join you????????
lisar replied: 3.58 a gallon. Man your lucky. For the cheap stuff here it is 3.89 this morning which puts me paying 4.00 for my car.
mummy2girls replied: of course. the more the merrier...
DVFlyer replied: Spend less than you make.
mommymommy replied: I am really worried because I don't know how bad it will get! It is so hard to predict! even gas prices which I never thought would go down did..Which is a positive sign.. I think about this often, but try my best not to worry!
