How annoying

PrairieMom wrote: I am so annoyed.
today when I went grocery shopping I brought my cloth bags and didn't give anything a second thought. The lady bagged up my groceries, and put my extra bags in with my stuff and I went out to the car.
Well, she put a gallon of milk, a gallon of OJ, a huge box of dishwasher detg and a couple cans of fruit into one, and when I went to pick it up, the handle ripped off it. mad.gif

okay, there were 3 extra bags that she didn't use. WHY would you pack a ton of heavy stuff into one bag when there were so many extra? Ugh. It tore in a way that I really can't fix it, so I guess I am out one. dry.gif

Anthony275 replied: because most people at grocery stores want to make your life hard and just put everything in one bag, saying that their "job" is done

mommy~to~a~bunch replied: Ugh, sorry that happened! I bag my own for that very reason. Or they will start bagging them in the plastic ones, ignoring my bright green ones right there. I will tell them to stop, I'll do it, thanks. Then take everything out of the bags & put them in my own.

PrairieMom replied:
On a side note, I nade my own cotton produce bags today, so I won't have to use the plastic ones for my fruits and veggi's anymore. thumb.gif I made them for about a quarter a piece. happy.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
You are so clever Tara, you should sell those bags too! wink.gif Like I've posted before, I hate the whole bagging experience at stores. I hate when they put ONE item in one bag. OR they double bag something. Ergh.

BTW, off topic a bit, but I was at Whole Foods the other day and they actually gave me a CREDIT for using my canvas bags!!! thumb.gif I thought that was so cool. And they also had this huge recycling dropoff thing at the front of the store, for plastic bags. I love that place! Expensive store, but it's worth it if they are going to do this type of thing. Sorry to blahblah.gif in your post.

Calimama replied: I can't stand when they do that. rolleyes.gif

A&A'smommy replied: I'm sorry that sucks!!!

sparkys2boys replied: mad.gif Don't blame you for being ticked. I hate when they fill the bags to much. And I am sure a cashier at a store isn't trying to save the company money by using less bags or is thinking of the enviroment when using the plastic ones. You should have asked her to use some of the other ones as she was going along.

gr33n3y3z replied:
That is why I bag my own stuff smile.gif

mommy~to~a~bunch replied:
thumb.gif Cool! I don't have much fabric here anymore, can I ask what you used?

PrairieMom replied:
just plain old cotton from the clearance rack. Its not organ unbleached blah blah blah... but it will save a few plastic bags anyway.
I just made them with a drawstring.

mommy~to~a~bunch replied:
rolling_smile.gif I should have the boys go through their T-shirts so I can use what they don't want.

coasterqueen replied: That is annoying.

We bought our first set of cloth bags (5 of them) last weekend. The bagger was off doing something else so I started bagging, just because I'm impatient, and I noticed the bags I bagged were just right as far as weight, etc and the ones he bagged where SO heavy. I told Dh the bags aren't going to last long if they bag them. growl.gif

coasterqueen replied:
I noticed this at Walmart's the other day as well -- the big bin at the front of the store for recycled plastic bags. thumb.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
Oh that's good to know! Never thought Walmart cared much about the environment since they are the ones who always double bag one item. smile.gif

coasterqueen replied:
Yeah, I'd really like to know what any of them who recycle do with the bags? Do they make a profit off of recycling them, I wonder?

DillsMommy replied: UGH, how annoying. I usually get the lady the packs about 20 cans into one bag, but then double bags it. It might not rip, but HELLO that doesn't make it any lighter. growl.gif Always seems to happen while I'm shopping by myself too....

holley79 replied: I don't know. I would be furious as well though. The baggers at the commisary don't do this to me though. They are the ones that have to tote them. happy.gif

My2Beauties replied: That stinks, it seems it's always one way or the other, either they bag too friggin' much and it's heave and/or rips or they bag one little tiny thing into a bag, it's like HELLO? I have other items that fit in here. That's why unless I buy a ton of items, I go on the self checkout and bag my own....I usually have more than 12 items blush.gif but if I have a cartful I don't do that laugh.gif
