How Did You Choose A Middle Name? - family or original

Tyler's middle name is Allen after his father

My middle name is Ann after my mother

Logan was Aaron's grandpa's middle name.
Read is my grandpa's middle and my brother's middle name.

So in full it's Mya Daniella Marie ____ ( insert last name there )

C&K*s Mommie replied: Actually our girls names were fairly easy (the boys name took 3mos to agree on). Chris and I only agreed on Danielle, Christian, Kellie, Nichole, and Jean (family name for both sexes), and the Marlette (Chris older sis that died 24hours before birth) came later down the line closer to the birth of Kellie.

Some names flowed together, and some did not. So we chose Christian Nichole & Kellie Marlette or Kellie Jean were our choices for the unknown sex of our child, should she be a girl. FWIW: our little baby girl is Kellie Marlette

Anthony is for a man I used to work with in the hospital in high school, right before he died he asked me if i ever had a son to name him after him

JP = Jarrett Payton - My dad is John Pat and we wanted to name him after my dad but he was so against using his name so we went with the initals.

Lorelei Elaine - Elaine is my middle name, my moms middle name, an aunts middle name....etc.

And then for the new baby Wyatt Charles or Lexi Alice - Both middle names are for family members.

RUSSELL NATHANIEL.......Russell was dh's grandfathers name and Nathaniel is his brothers name.

Then ten years later I got pregnant with Izabella and we gaver her Marie as a middle name because she was our first REAL baby. Teguila just passed away right before Christmas. She was 15 yrs old. yes, I named our daughter after our dog.

DH's first name is Clayton (he goes by Gene though), he is a "Jr." I didn't want Evan to be Clayton also so I shortened it up and put it in the middle and wa~la...Evan Clay

This baby we're still not sure boy name is supposed ot be Jackson Alan , the Alan after DH father and for a girl ___________ Grace (after a Great Aunt of mine and a Great Aunt of DH's) We can't agree on a name that we both LOVE fo rteh baby if it's a girl
But we really try to use sentimental names or family names

I picked the boys first name and girls middle name. We came up with Danica Rose. Danica came from Danica Patrick (indy driver). Rose is my Great Grandmothers name. The boys name will be Ethan Annikin. Ethan really has no attachment to anything, I just really like the name. Annikin came from Star Wars.

The James is after my grandpa and the Michael is the english version of DH's name(Miguel)

A lady at my church[not to get religious or anything] said God has already chosen a child's name long before he/she was ever even thought about!!

Celestrina replied: Ben's middle name (Jacob) was original. We were still at the hospital after the ultrasound when we found out we were having a boy. I was in the bathroom and it came to me . As you might have guessed we like traditional names and we thought Jacob would be a traditional, but not commonly used, name. Turns out we were wrong - it is one of the most popular names in Pennsylvania.

James' middle name is after his dad... tho i objected.

Jade is named after my grandmother, Jessica. Her middle name is Jade cuz dh and i loved the name.

Kaleigh's middle name is after my mom and grandma.

Ansley Faye- named after our mother’s middle names Ann + Faye.
Callum Reily - Cal was Great Grandfather’s first name. Reily because he was born on St. Patty’s Day.

Charlize was picked for sound. And it means "Woman".

And my middle name, Leslie, is the same as my Father's & my Grandfathers.

Oh that is too FUNNY! I love CSI too! Good for you for going along with that one. My husband is obsessed with certain bands, specifically the Stones and the Beatles and I have so far eluded all singer names for my kids due to us using family names but I think if I have any more, I'll have to give in to a Jagger or a George for a son

*Shannon* replied: Alexander Stephen...Stephen is my dad's brother's name. I can't say that's why I used that name, I don't really know him, haven't seen him since my dad's funeral 19 years ago. But I thought it flowed well, and it was a tribute to my lineage I guess.

Luke Andrew...SO chose his name, I'm not sure but I believe he just liked it.

Shawn Anthony...Shawn for a (somewhat) namesake for me, Anthony is a name that is all over SO's family, and again, it just flowed well.

Colt Clyde-better than Colt 45 which DH joked about naming him for the whole 9 months Seriously Clyde is a family middle name on DH's side

Macie Marie-after mommy, Monica Marie.

Edward's Mommy replied: Edward's first and middle names are family names. Edward is after Chris (DH's) late father. And his middle name, Robert is after my daddy. Two very important people in mine and Chris' lives.

Caroline's Lucy DH LOVED and it grew on me now I love it esp. after Luci (which is actually short for Lucita) came into our lives full time.

MamaJAM replied: When DH and I married - we ended up with the same initials -- J.A.M. (I had been J.A.W.). Since I was 6 years old - I knew what name I wanted to give my first DD....and that name also started with a "J". In looking at it - we thought it would be neat if we all had the same initials. We also knew we wanted a bunch of kids...and realized very early on that there were very few "A" names that we liked. So - we decided that any/all girls would have my middle name (spelled the same way) -- Anne.....and any/all boys would have DH middle name -- Alan.

Sure made picking names easy...we only ever needed first names and only had to look at the "J" section of books.

na81 replied: When we found out we were having a girl, we knew we wanted to have the name Fay somewhere. For 1, it is my SO's grandma's middle name and for 2, it is his sister that passed aways middle name. So, our daughter's name ended up being Taylor Fay!

So it was after him, not really a family name...but I'd like to use Caroline (my mom's name is Carolyn) if we have a girl this time around, for a middle name probably...
