Honeymoon question

grapfruit wrote: I think the question is pretty obvious rolling_smile.gif

He REALLY wants to do a cruise, I'm REALLY afraid I'll be sea sick. wink.gif Am I worrying for nothing?? It'll be in Oct, if that makes a difference.

Also, is it in bad taste to tell everyone that in lue (sp??) of gifts we would rather they make a contribution to the cruise?? Of course I guess you'd have to word it in a fancy way.

austins mom replied: Yes yes and yes.

luvmykids replied: Cruises are GREAT. Get an outside room so you can look out, and get one in the middle of the ship where there is less motion. Those ships are SO HUGE most people don't get seasick wink.gif It takes an awful lot for them to move enough for you to feel it.

I saw a website awhile back that was a honeymoon registry type of thing, so I think people are doing it, but personally I don't think I'd ask for money. I'll try to find the site, it's set up so you can include it with your registry and people can choose to buy a gift or donate to the honeymoon fund.

eta: Just google "honeymoon registry"....there were a ton.

luvbug00 replied: I'm gonna say yes to cruise ( i'd never do it thouggh, i just am personally tramatized by the posidan adventure movie)

No i wouldn't worry about the sickness unless it;s severe

I'm gonna be honest asking for money from your guest for any reason is a big no no. But like stated above there are registries for honeymoons and you can do that instead. thumb.gif

Calimama replied: Cruises are awesome!! thumb.gif

Bamamom replied: I think a cruise is a great choice for a honeymoon. Lots of down/free time to "snuggle" and lots of activities too. Plus the water will be absolutely beautiful. And October is good cause the water will be warm but the sun will have lost some of it's intensity - less chance of getting burned.

As for seasickness - you can buy some seasickness bracelets to take with you (they don't make you drowsy and you can wear them all the time) but like someone else said, few people get seasick on a cruise cause the boat is so big you don't really feel it rocking.

I think it's kind of tacky to ask for money but you can have a money tree at the reception - lots of people do that - it's anonomous and no one feels like they have to give cause you'll never know if they didn't.

HTH!

lovemy2 replied: I would think a cruise would be great - never been on one but I would love to go - just be careful where you are going on one - October can still be considered hurricane season in some areas wink.gif

My2Beauties replied: See I don't think it's tacky at all to ask for money, everyone knows most newlyweds need money, they just paid for an expensive wedding and are going on a honeymoon, we worded it nicely, but jsut mainly asked for money! No one cared, in fact I had tons of people tell me it was a good idea and we had a wishing well made to put envelopes in.

moped replied: Personally, I said no.

I have been on many cruises and I do like the places we go but not so much being on their schedule - i would much rather hang at a resort

emiliosmom replied: I think it depends on the cruise and cruiseline you go with. There are some very romantic options but I don't know about you but being stucvk on a boat with 3000 old people isn't very romantic, neither is a boat full of drunk people.

Check out Windstar!

Calimama replied:
Our cruise wasn't just old people or drunk people. wink.gif

MoonMama replied: We didn't go on one for our honeymoon but went on one while we were dating. We had a wonderful time! thumb.gif

emiliosmom replied: I think I am a little biased - I didn't enjoy my cruises.
