Honestly, what do you think?

PrairieMom wrote: This is just something i was dabbling with the other day, and I have mixed feelings about it. It is a dress that will fit 18 months on up, or could fit as a shirt for larger children, like 4T plus. I don't have a larger model tho, so I don't really know what it would look like. laugh.gif

The pattern is kind of hard to see, its cowboy themed, and has a rodeo dude in the middle and lasso around the edges with horse shoes and what not. I was thinking of making a red or blue one with traditional bandannas.

grapfruit replied: Ok, I think the pattern is cool, but I think the "shape" is off.

I think the top needs to be fitted a little more. Something to define it more. Honestly it looks like a towel wrapped around her.... Maybe a belt of some sort would help? I don't know, something to define it more. I'm more apt to like it be a little more fitted in place of a belt.

PrairieMom replied:
bigthink.gif It wouldn't be hard to throw another piece of elastic in there... do you think a empire waist or regular waist would be better?

grapfruit replied:
Yeah I think that would help. So you see what I mean then??

PrairieMom replied:
Oh yeah, definitely.

luvmykids replied: I think an empire waist would be adorable, and I'd LOVE the bandana print! thumb.gif

lovemy2 replied: Sorry I voted too quick - before I read your whole post - I like the idea - not the pattern per se but that is just my taste - I agree - something a little more fitted on the top and then a-lineish - is that what you mean by empire waste? Sorry I am fashion retard.....I would definately buy one for Olivia if it was more that way - kinda sun dressish....

Nice job Tara - you are sew ( emlaugh.gif ) creative thumb.gif

PrairieMom replied:
Empire waist is higher up, just under the boobs, think 70's

punkeemunkee'smom replied: I think it would be cute as a swimsuit cover up. smile.gif

mckayleesmom replied:
My MIL made Mckaylee a bunch of those a couple summers ago as bathing suit covers....although she has worn them as dresses with a pair of flip flops too.

Calimama replied: I think it would be cute with an empire waist!!!!

moped replied: Don't love it...... tongue.gif

boyohboyohboy replied: hey, I 'll take the little girl! thumb.gif

PrairieMom replied:
really? she's for sale. I'll throw in a slightly used 5 year old too. laugh.gif

bawoodsmall replied: Empire waist it and I would totally buy it if I could see it on someone emilys age. I really like retro looking clothes though. I wish I could sew. You are a woman of many talents.

PrairieMom replied:
I don't know about talent, 1/2 of you hate it. rolling_smile.gif

we got the bandannas in our goodie bags from a birthday party and I immediately decided that I wanted to do something with them, so I have been staring at them for a few weeks trying to come up with something. I think I will whip up a traditional looking one and see what y-all think

bawoodsmall replied: see....whip up. Who wips up an outfit or shirt or whatever? biggrin.gif

PrairieMom replied:
yeahhhh... but its only beneficial if you come up with a good end result. laugh.gif

mckayleesmom replied: OMG..that is what my mil used too....Mckaylee has a pink one with green frogs on it running around here somewhere....she just put elastic at the top and used ribbon for the straps....although she didn't crisscross them like yours.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I love it!! I live in a wealthy area (although we don't fit in that category at all) where moms love to shop boutiques. You go the park and all the kids look really hip. Can you say I miss Walmart, but it is what it is! Anyhow, I can see the little girls wearing them here! I like the roughness of the edges and how you can tell it's a bandana. Not sure I'm totally crazy about the cowboy theme, but I could see it in funky florals, tie dye, or just solids. Great job!

My3LilMonkeys replied: I think with a few minor tweaks it would be adorable! I agree the empire waist would look cute, and I'd personally like it in a different fabric.

sparkys2boys replied: Well I think for just whipping it up.. it's cute! A little tweaking and it will be perfect!!

PrairieMom replied:
I have the sewing machine out and shall be tweaking when the children go to sleep. cool.gif
