Holy Sh*t! - Reply back from Ebay Customer Support
Kirstenmumof3 wrote: OMG you will not believe the message I got back from Ebay this evening. They are saying that someone has taken over my account and have advised me to update my virus software protetion. They said if I recieve anymore suspiscious emails not to respond to them. I just don't understand why someone would do this. I rarely ever use Ebay. So far my account says I haven't bid or purchased or sold anything (other than the items I bought over the summer). I'm so glad I didn't just delete the messages and that I reported them right away. Ebay is looking into the problem further.
GavinsMommy replied: How could someone take over your account? They got your password or something?
That's pretty scary! Glad you found out what was going on...
ctymom replied: I received an email from what looked like Ebay. It was very real looking and it asked me to log into the site from a link in the email. The addy looked real but it wasnt.
Just be careful about all emails from ebay.

Kaitlin'smom replied: my sitter has this problm a while back she got a e-mail from what she thought was e-bay asking her to update her information, well she did so they got her password and started havoc with her account. She found out pretty fast and got things under control. When she told me I was shocked that she would give out that info, she learned her lesson and is leary of emails from e-bay
coasterqueen replied: That happened to me a few months ago too.
jolene555 replied: i would send that email in, as well. i never put too much faih in any of those emails anymore. is there any way you can send a spoof report from a seperate email account so that you know what's going on, for sure?
ctymom replied: How do I know that an email is really from Ebay?
That is really helpful. Explains and shows examples. Like I mentioned, it's pretty hard to fool me with emails now since I've been burned by a few in the past. But that one could have had me if I wasnt paying attention closely.
Spoof Tutorial
The addy you forward possible spoofs is spoof@ebay.com

Kirstenmumof3 replied: Thanks that's the address I forwarded the emails too. I just recieved another email from someone this morning and I've changed my password twice now. I don't know what's going on.
jem0622 replied: You'd be surprised what crazy hackers can do. Sorry that this happened, but very glad that Ebay is proactive and telling you to be careful.
My2Beauties replied: Oh no how scary!
kimberley replied: sorry this is happening to you. when you say you are changing your password... are you going to the ebay site directly (www.ebay.com) or are you following a link from an email? because the links are probably fraudulent even though they look like authentic ebay pages. it happened to me and i never follow links anymore. hope the madness stops soon.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Thanks Kimberley I did go right onto the Ebay website and changed it that way. I've heard of that happening to other people as well.
Josie83 replied: O my word how bad is that? I hope they don't mess everythign up xx
