Highlights of your day with your kids....
MommyToAshley wrote: I love hearing all of your stories and learning about your kids, so lets share your highlights of the day. What made you laugh, smile, or cry today?
I'll share mine about Ashley.
There's nothing like snuggling in bed in the morning. Ashley usually comes to bed with us when she first gets up, and she either goes back to sleep or we stay there and snuggle. It's my favorite time of the day. But, today she gave me a big ol' kiss and said, "Mom, I love you this much more than infinity!" (with her arms spread out wide) DH usually says that to her.
Ashley's swimming pool popped, and I bought her a new one but I haven't blown it up yet. So, we got the sprinkler out. She was having an ok time with the sprinkler, but then I noticed my empty water bottle (the kind with the sports lid) and filled it up with water and started chasing her with it.... I squirted her all the way down the sidewalk past two of the neighbors houses, and she giggled all the way. So, she got the hose and chased me. I think she got the better end of the deal. She was laughing so hard, it was so precious. We were both soaked and the neighbors watching us thought we were nuts, but I am smiling right now just thinking about it.
This evening, Ashley was drawing with her crayons and she showed me a picture that she had just drawn. It was cone shaped and had two lines coming out of the bottom and had some circles and a line in the middle of the cone. She said, "look Mommy, guess what my picture is!" So, I made a few guesses, all incorrect. Then, she said, "It's me with a telescope, looking at the stars" How obvious.. why didn't I get that! LOL! Next, she drew a circle with two lines coming out of the bottom and two circles and a line (that looked like a face) Again, she asked me to guess. I thought I had it this time, it looked like a perfect picture of Ashley. But, I was wrong again. "It's Humpty Dumpty!" Ashley informed me. I couldn't help but to be amazed at her imagination.
One last thing to share... I put Ashley to bed and then went to take a shower. When I got out of the shower, I saw the sweetest thing.... Ashley laying on Daddy's chest on the couch in the living room, both asleep. I can't put it into words, it just melted my heart.
I could go on and on, but I want to hear all about your kids and your snapshots of the day.
mummy2girls replied: well after my fun filled day of misery i was thinking my day just couldnt get any worse. I was so upset and stressed. I had put jenna to bed and i always say i love you as im walking out the door and she never ever replies.. but tonight its like she knew i needed a pick me up bnecause she says..I love you too mommy! I stopped in my tracks and just ran to her and started to bawl! I love her so much!
i would have more but just as i said my day was pretty poopy!
MommyToAshley replied: That is so sweet!!! I would have been bawling too. Jenna is such a blessing and such a little sweetheart. It's amazing how they can make everything alright. We're suppose to do that for them, but often it's the other way around.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Olivia had all the songs and motions for her VBS memorized by the end of the VBS week. At the picnic, they gave us a CD that we have been jammin' to ever since. Two really funny things have happened lately with it.
We were driving to Columbus last week and I listening to it with Olivia in the back singing at the top of her lungs and doing as much of the motions as her car seat encrusted self could do. As we drove through a string of lights I noticed people turning around to look, all smiling & laughing. I looked back there and she was quite entertaining!!
The other also involves the VBS CD and misheard lyrics. The refrain of the main song has an echo. Usually I'm singing it too so I didn't hear Olivia's version until a few days ago. Here are the lyrics of the refrain and Olivia's "reply" lyrics in parenthesis.
He is our servant King (He is our servant King)
He is the King of Kings (He is the King of Kings)
He is our Lord and God (He is our Lord and God)
The lion of Judah (The lion of TUNA)
I was laughing so hard I thought I would wreck the car!!
It's never a dull moment with Olivia!! She is training for comedy central, I swear!
Great thread, Dee Dee. I love hearing stories about everyone's kids!!
gr33n3y3z replied: My Katie makes me laugh so much during the day I cant pin point one thing she is such a happy child to have around all the time and when she feels your down she pulls you up. She maybe going fishing with her poppy today
luvbug00 replied:
Oh that is soo cute!! I love it!!
Jamielou replied: I love laying in the bed with her on the weekends and watching all of her favorite cartoons and shows (wiggles of course).
And right before its time for me to get off of work my mom says she will start talking about mom mom. and when i walk in the door its like she is so excited to see me she will run over there with her arms up and i pick her up and she lays her little head down on my shoulder and she will pat my back like i do hers its so cute
And this morning when i got up to go take a shower for work (she was in our bed) I said laney mom has to go take a shower she looked at me and said Bye real sweet and i said no im not going bye im just taking a shower.
And when im leaving i always say bye baby so now when i tell her bye she says bye baby to me.
And one more thing this morning cracked me up a little my mom keeps her for me and this morning when i went around the car and opened the door to get her out of the carseat she said HI all excited like she hadnt seen me in a while i thought that was so cute.
I forgot one more thing when you ask her for suger she will lean her forhead over to you so you can kiss her but she rarely gives suger in the mouth....
redchief replied: Yep, Katie went fishing with her grandfather today (who's celebrating his birthday - imagine how proud Kaitlin is that her grandfather chose to spend his special day with her!).
Kaitlin is the happiest child; always. She rarely funks, and when she does, it's not for long. This morning she made her grandfather wait to go fishing until she had a proper breakfast. Normally that would drive him nuts, but he almost seemed happy to wait today. Maybe it's because they spent pre-breakfast together making PB&J sandwiches for the trip?
Erin just came in wearing a bikini. She looks fantastic. I should be happy but I'm stricken and asked Lisa to get the girl a coverall.
John got all dressed up to go pick up his g/f in Philadelphia today. John doesn't get dressed up often; and especially not in the morning.
Rick's just Rick. He's always got a positive attitude no matter what. He also takes really good care of my mom, which a lot of people don't notice, but I do.
MommyToAshley replied: The lion of TUNA... LOL! OMG!
She's quite a character, you have to get her on video for us!
MommyToAshley replied: Aweee, she just a little sweetie pie!
MommyToAshley replied: Lisa and Ed, you have such a wonderful family. I love hearing about your relationship with your children, and I can always read the pride, joy, and love in your posts.
I hope I still know you in 10 years when Ashley enters those teenage years, I may just call on you for a few pointers!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: My MIL is in town visiting and we were having lunch yesterday together. Wil was sitting in his highchair and was fussing to get out. So I stood up and when he looked up at me, he said "MOM" and threw his arms up! I've heard him say mama before, but this was the first time he actually looked up at me and said it so clearly. Even my MIL was floored!
Every morning DH gets up with Wil and gives him his bottle. Then he brings him into bed with me while he takes a shower. So Wil and I play around on the bed. I hide under the sheets or I tickle him. Sometimes we just snuggle if he's still tired. And he always does this cute thing...he puts his mouth over my nose like he's giving me a kiss and makes this "ahhhhhhhh" sound. It's so cute! And then he'll just nuzzle his face in my hair and sigh. He repeats it constantly. I love it!
Just a few minutes ago, I noticed it was quiet in his room while I was on the computer. So I looked around the corner and Wil was flipping the pages in one of his books! He's never really been interested in his books unless I'm turning the pages for him. So seeing him do it himself was a huge milestone!
mckayleesmom replied: MCKAYLEE
I love that shes becoming so independent and funny
*when she goes to the ice cream man she yells "stop" and puts her little hand out...then she walks up to him and says "hi cutie"
this morning she was in the kitchen with a huge tub of pasta salad (she loves my pasta salad) sitting on the floor eating it saying "yum"
sometimes she doesn't want to share with Russell...and I tell her "but he loves you,,,you would want him to share with you" and she waits a couple minutes while she thinks it over and then she will give it back to him and kiss his head and say "its ok baby".....or if she really doesn't want him to have her toy..she will trade him
in the morning..she runs straight to Russells room and says "hi peenee"...its so cute....
this morning she let me put her potty seat over the toilet and she went potty in the big toilet...Im so proud of her
sometimes if she has food that is mushy....I will find Russell covered in it...because she trys to feed him....She has opened his baby food and done it before too...
sometimes if she runs in our room and dh isn't there..she says "oh..daddy's wook, make me some moneeez"....daddys at work making me money...lol
Yesterday dh gave her some change and asked her what she was going to buy with it..."an ambooga"...a hamburger
Whenever its bed time and she trys to protest...I tell her to march up there and get into bed......she will actually start marching and start saying "march one two, march one two"......Like March 2, 3, 4....
Lately if something isn't doing what she wants it to...she gets mad and growls "come on"...but it sounds like comb on.
RUSSELL
Russell is my snuggle bunny
Russell loves his big sister soo much...they have a carpet they play on and if she leaves he cries...I have to beg McKaylee to stay seated next to him and play with him.
He can sit up now and he always rockes his butt and trys to scoot to Mckaylee and hold his arms out to her
He always pulls my hair....but he won't pull Mckaylees hair...he rubs his hands through it
Last night I gave Russell a bath and put Mckaylee in while I dried off Russell...Mckaylee was walking back and forth in the bathtub yelling "march,,,march" and marching back and forth and russell was laughing so hard he was crying.
If Mckaylee walks by..he will grab part of her clothing and pull her back and start laughing until she yanks away
If I let Mckaylee hold him...he will shimmy around and attack her with lovings...he trys to get her and kiss her....its so funny.
sometimes I wiggle my hand in front of him and he will grab it and squeel really loud because he caught it.
redchief replied: Ditto!!!
Read your post about Ashley lying on dad's chest. I miss those days terribly. All of my kids did that, but Erin was Miss Daddy's Chest!
kimberley replied: highlights of my day yesterday?? you DON"T wanna know lol
Jacob and James fought most of the day. James has a fat lip cuz he tried to eat before the freezing from the dentist wore off and bit it
then in the wee hours of the morning, Jade decided to finger paint with the contents of her stinky diaper ! into the bath we go, pg mommy heaving along the way
mckayleesmom replied: awww...sorry Kimberly...hope the rest of the day gets brighter.....Mckaylee was a finger painter too.....gosh that was horrible.
kimberley replied: lol thanks Bri. it was just so disgusting to see my beautiful little girl covered in poop and she smelled soooooooo bad!
mom2tripp replied: Highlight of my day today
Tripp crawled to me and just as he did he said " mama" I about melted!!
mckayleesmom replied: I think is when Mckaylee had it in her eyes....that was horrible trying to clean her up.
redchief replied: Sorry Kimberley, but I kind of miss the kids fighting. Weird, huh? They're all so busy with their lives now that they're teens and older that their paths only cross occasionally. Sometimes it's pandemonium around here, but sometimes it's just too quiet. Though she never complains, I know Lisa notices this too, and misses her little kids
punkeemunkee'smom replied: HIghlights of my days: They are very many around here!
Taylor always kisses me in the morning when she gets up and says "good morning mommy!Did you have a good sleep? It's a BEAUTIFUL day!" Even if it is raining and she hasn't even looked outside it is STILL a BEAUTIFUL day!
She is so interested in learning her letters and is so proud of herself when she draws one the right way."I'm so smart! Huh,Mama?"
She has this amazing imagination and has all sorts of friends and will play with them all through the house-it is too funny to hear her having a conversation with 'Daisy'!
She knows how to call daddy on the phone and she will call him and ask him if he is coming home. If he tels her not yet he is making her some money so she can buy toys, she has started telling him"Nope it's ok,I have nuff toys now!"
She still loves to snuggle-I hope she doesn't ever stop!
She dances-I mean really dances and sings at the top of her lungs! She learns music very quickly but doesn't always get all the words right so sometimes you have to bite yor tounge to keep from laughing!
The other night Dh was home and it was about to storm so we turned off the lights to watch the lighting and just had a cd playing in the dvd player-Well she started dancing and singing-It was sooooo SOOOOO cute! We were all laughing! Dh reached over and grabbed my hand and I had the best feeling of pure joy! This little person has changed our lives so much and I am so blessed to be her mommy
