Hey Rocky
PrairieMom wrote: Your post about living in an igloo reminded me of something. I live in SD, and my fathers family is from Way back east. They seriously thought that we lived like little house on the prairie. and that there were indians in teepee's and buffalo. They were very suprised to learn that we had an airport. OMG. the steriotypes some people have. My dad told them that we would pick them up from the airport in our covered wagon, and they believed us.
luvmykids replied: ROFL
We have the same problems in NM....when I was a kid I remember my great uncle from MA asking if he needed a passport to come here, seriously And just about two months ago when we were switching cell phone carriers this idiot actually said, "Oh, you're in NM? Then you need an international plan." I also had someone tell me once that they didn't ship internationally
Calimama replied:
Too funny.
PrairieMom replied: Your in NM? Wow! your english is really good!
Calimama replied: What part of NM are you from? We went there on vacation and fell in love with it!!

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Yeah you guys aren't half bad.
You guys would be horrified at the amount of americans that visit here and don't know ANYTHING, even about their own country, nevermind Canada.
lisar replied: I will admit I dont know a whole lot about cananda, I have learnt more talking to yall than anywhere else but I could answer questions about the U.S.
luvmykids replied: Albuquerque, lived in northern NM in Taos for five years, now live in the moutains east of ABQ.
Where did you visit? I love NM...we have such great weather and so many different terrains.
Kaitlin'smom replied: that is toooo funny
Hillbilly Housewife replied: yeah... at least you guys know I was joking.
At least, I sure hope so. Some random ppl I chat to online I have so much fun with... oh man some ppl are so clueless.
katiesmom2002 replied: I live in oklahoma and people think there is nothing out here and that there is just cowboys and indians. It is amazing what people think and say lol.
mom2my2cuties replied:
Funny they think that in Texas we all wear 10 gallon cowboy hats and live on ranches.
Now that I'm in Arkansas, they all think we are backwood rednecks who marry thier sisters.
People's misconceptions are just funny
ZandersMama replied: I'm in Cape Breton. I had people come into the PIZZA shop where I work wondering if there is anything to eat here other then fish Big sign in the front window saying Pizzaria. Nope, just fried haddock here
Calimama replied: We hit Carlsbad (and the caverns), White Sands, Alamgorda (sp?), Roswell, Las Crues (sp?) and Truth and Consequences. We were going to keep going to Albuquerque but my dad got sick and we still had the drive back to Texas, so we left. I LOVED it. I'm trying to convince DH to move there after he gets out of the Marine Corps.. well more like if we EVER get out..
A&A'smommy replied: UM How in the world could they think something like that?? do they not watch tv??
PrairieMom replied: I think TV is where some of the problems occur. You don't see very many shows that take place on the modern prairie.
luvmykids replied: Been to all those places, lived in Cruces for two years while I earned my half degree in journalism I love NM, highly recommend living here
Anthony275 replied: i used to think people in brazil lived in huts until about 3 years ago don't worry, apparently the only part of new york to some people is the city
holley79 replied:
That is too freaking funny Tara!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I had a friend in high school that moved to TX from Iowa. She thought it (TX) would be all country...dirt roads, farms, horses. She actually thought we had hitching posts outside of the school for our horses. WTH? It is that way in the country, but not every part of TX. She was so shocked that we actually had shopping malls and restaurants and we wore normal clothes.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: That's the big thing here too.
My2Beauties replied: Well I live in Kentucky
We go 'round here barefooted and carry dem babies on our hips. I cher tobbaca and wear a straw hat with overalls and pick my teeth with straw from my hat. I wear a kerchief around my neck too. I married me cousin and we live in a little ol' house back up on a dirt road near the crick, our next door neighbor is Bubba!
I crack myself up!
lovemy2 replied: Yep - I live in UPSTATE New York - my roommates in college were from Long Island - they thought I had cows in my backyard - hello - pretty metropolitan where I am - there are cows but most of the cows actually have HOUSES in their backyards - not the other way around
Anthony275 replied: thats another thing...if i dont live in the city, i must live upstate!!
