C&K*s Mommie replied: That's it!!! I am moving to Canada! With the perks that you guys (Canadians) get like monthly subsidies, free healthcare, extra time off post partum, and now UCB's... PLUS some of the provinces have ideal Florida-like weather, I am packing up & moving by the end of the month.

(forgive me if some of my facts about Canada were wrong )

I knew we were getting it for children under 6 but I didn't know it was 100/month, so that is great for Jacks account!!!!

The government is getting so much better about families

Plus, from this years tax return he also gets $80/month that is different that the above. Next year he won't get any because my return will show I made too much but this year I am going to take it!

apart from the 100 a month jennas gets 257 a month for the child credit tax... because im considered low income right now i get that additional money which makes it 257. so together 357/month...wow! I should treasure it now because once i start my dayhome i wont be considered low income and i wont get as much from the gov...LOL.. which also means the health benefit jenna is on that the gov gives low income familes will eb taken away

My Child tax benefit also went up from 146$ a month to 203$ a month... but for some reason it's not including Naomie. I called them yesterday, and apparently I'm supposed to get about 400$ a month for all 3...

And yes, I got the UCB cheque... 200$, cuz they don't have Naomie registered.

AN IMPORTANT FYI - The UCB money is TAXABLE. Just by the way. It will be counted as INCOME. So PUT IT IN RESPs or something... because next year, your child tax benefit will be lowered.

That's one way they're screwing us...again.

I'm personally putting the Universal Child tax benefit towards resps for my kids. I'm with Canadian Scholarship Trust. If someone wants to go with them, give them my name as a reference, please!!! (I'll pm you my info)

booey2 replied: I got mine yesterday for Thomas and DH is taking the boys to the bank on Friday and Thomas is getting his own bank account. Not too worried about the tax hit next year, don' t make that much that my tax benifit is shrinking already and it won't make that much of a difference.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: actually MOST of the provinces have Florida-like weather.... we can wear t-shirts and shorts in April and sometimes even up to late November...and while a small percentage of Canadians actually do live in igloos, they are VERY VERY FAR UP NORTH (like Alaska), we do not all wear Tuques and we don't all say Aboot. We do pretty much all say "Ehh?" though...

Well my dad was in the military... and because of being transferred to a canadian base in Germany, that's where I was born. Well, in Lahr actually, not on the base...because my mother wanted me to have dual citizenship.

But my father was born in Sudbury, and my mother was born in St-Charles. We lived in Petawawa when my dad was transferred back to Canada, so my brother was born in Pembroke.
