He's here! - my birth scoop
PrairieMom wrote: Hi guys! We are finally home! Ben and Al are both thrilled with their new brother. Al esp. She keeps ordering me around, telling me how to take care of him. Pick him up, give him his pacifier, blah blah blah... She will be a very good mommy someday.
So, basically, all day Sunday I was having these more painful contractions, like every 10 minutes. I contracted all through church, but later in the afternoon they peetered out. I took a nap, and they completely went away. That night I went to bed early just incase. So, monday morning I woke up at 3 AM with a MAJOR contraction, and headed to the bathroom. After some debate, I decided to shower just incase I was going to have to go in. 1/2 way through the shower it was obvious that I was going to go in. So I woke up DH, had a bowl of honey nut cherrios and off we went. I was a 4 when we got to the hospital @ 4 , and by 8 AM I was at 8 . I spent 20 minutes in the hot tub which got me to a 10. 1 1/2 hours of pushing later, he was born at 10:30. I managed to do it without a epidural, even tho this one was way worse than my other 2 labors, and longer too. He was 7 lbs 14 ounces, nearly a pound bigger than ben, pounds bigger than AL. and MAN that extra pound makes a huge difference!
At any rate, he is here, and nursing like a champ. he is a little tongue tied, so I have to take him to get his frenulum clipped tomorrow. poor baby. My lactation consultant really thinks it will help, esp since I am super duper sore already. I will post pics as soon as I can. Things are crazy around here. Here is his hospital pic tho. http://www.sanfordhealth.org/CradleRoll/Ba...lParentId=28689

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Congratulations! He's a cutie. Poor baby getting his frenulum clipped! How is he doing with nursing now?
PrairieMom replied: Sorry i haven't been around much, things have been super busy here, trying to get settled in, and keep up with everything. Plus I have company over, so, you know.
Anyway, Charlie is doing OK, he is really spitty, nursing is going Ok-ish, we still have to work on his latch more, my poor nips are pretty sore, but we are pushing through. his frenulum clipping went ok, it sounds way more brutal than it was, he really could have cared less about it, he nursed right after it. It didn't even bleed.
The kids seem to be adjusting pretty well, DH keeps complaining that he is tired. Must be getting up 3 times a night to have his oober sore nipples sucked on, then getting puked on then trying to get baby back to sleep must really be wearing on him. What ever.
We are just pushing through, trying to get into a routine, and get our little guy figured out.
CantWait replied: I'm glad Charlie is doing well. Hopefully things settle down and you get into some sort of "routine".
Also I've heard really good things about nipple shields for nursing when you're sore, I guess it's not just for poor latching babies anymore. I remember being super sore with Anthony for the first two or three weeks and than it started getting better. Hang in there.
coasterqueen replied: They didn't help me from being sore. I had to use a shield with Kylie because it was the only way she'd latch on since I had flat nipples. OMG, I was so sore all the time. Ugh.
((HUGS)) Tara. Hang in there. It gets easier, as you already know
