Here is a silly question - How do you......
moped wrote: wash your child's hair - I can get Jack all lathered up and then when it comes time to rinse his hair it never know what to do so I get the back all rinsed and then since he won't lay down with me supporting him I have to just dump a cup of water on his head and he HATES It - what do you guys do??
MomToMany replied: Hannah is in the "I-hate-having-my-hair-washed" phase. I fold a washcloth in half, and have her hold it over her eyes. Then she tilts her head back, & I wash it as fast as I can.
For Kayla, I cup my hand at her hairline in the front & rinse as quickly as I can. She freaks if any water gets on her face. It works alright for us.
Kaitlin'smom replied: well DH does bath time but I taught him this she will now lay down a but and that helps rins out the back but she does not like getting her ears wet so she sits up holds a wahs cloth over her eyes and ears and then he gently dumps water on her hair till its rinsed out.
that also have visors for the bath to help keep the water out of the eyes
gr33n3y3z replied: I used a BIG cup also I just put my one hand on their front farhead so the water wouldnt run in their eyes it works good give it a try Good Luck
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Well, Ethan loves for me to dump water on his head. But, I've always cupped my hand over his forehead and wiped the water away from his face.
HTH!
luvbug00 replied: 100% ditto.
~KARA~ replied: I put my girls on the counter and wsh theirs in the kitchen sink!! Maddi will stand up and get out of the tub if you dump water on her!
Mom2Boyz replied: Conner thinks it's hillarious when I pour the water over his head to rinse his hair out But I still try to put my hand on his forehead to keep the water from getting in his eyes.
3xsthefun replied: Kaitlynn doesn't like getting her haired washed. She usually puts a wash cloth over her eyes and I have her tilt her head back. She hates get water in her eyes.
Maegan she won't let me cover her eyes or put my hand over her forehead or anything. So I just have to dump water on her head. She don't like that to well either.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Sounds weird but it started when we started reading the Sandra Boynton book Doggies. In the book the dogs howl at the moon so to wash (particularly Matt's) hair we ahve them howl at the moon like the doggies then dump the cup over their heads
mummy2girls replied: What i do is place my hand on jennas forehead and when i put water on a take my hand and push the water away from her face. It works pretty good. I sometimes tell her to look up at the celiling and if she doesnt i dangle something abover her head and she looks up and i dump the water really quickly!
MomToMany replied: Another thing you could do is put a toy up by the shower head & tell them to look for the toy while you rinse their hair.
Mommy2BAK replied: I usually hold a toy up with one hand and say "look Blakely" and when she looks up I pour a cup of water over her had to rinse the shampoo out, she never really gets any in her face.
CantWait replied: I pretty much do what you do, sometimes I ask him to put his chin up while I dump. There use to be visors that you could use in the bath when washing your child's hair, but now I can't find em
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Boy I sound like a mean mommy, but I just dump a cup of water over Wil's head to rinse. He doesn't seem to mind (yet)...we'll see how long that lasts. I think he sorta likes it though!
My2Beauties replied: This has been a constant battle with Hanna and I, I just got her to where she sits in the tub I just take a washcloth and rinse it off slowly - I know it's awful but if I dumped water on her head she would freak out and go into a crying rage
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Until recently Tay wasn't much for baths-she was a shower kid so washing her hair wasn't too hard and we had one of those visors to keep the soap out of her eyes! Now she tilts her head back on her own but she still gets pretty ticked if she thinks there is soap getting anywhere near her eyes!
beautifullychaotic replied: I am a cup dumper also. David gets so mad to he yanks the cup away. So we have a 2 cup system it kinda goes dump yank dump yank. He is getting better about it though mostly because he has learned the perfect revenge is to splash mommy.
moxee24 replied: Thats me, too. Kyle thinks its funny to take the first cup and then try to dump water on me. He doesn't have real thick hair so I can usually rinse it in 1 or 2 shots with the cup. I always wash his hair first thing then let him play for a little bit by then he forgets how mad he was at me.
A&A'smommy replied: well we lather her thick hair up (that sometimes take a while ) and then we have one of those hand held shower heads and it makes washing her hair SOOO easy!! But before we had one of those we just dumped a cup of water on her head and if that bothers you, you can just teach him to look up while you do it that is what I did with Alyssa when she was that age!
My2Boyz replied: I lather him up and use a wet washcloth and just keep wiping away from his face, and rinsing the cloth. Not too much water gets in his face. I have a visor but I haven't had to use that yet.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I am also a dumper. Logan has his own cup and bath toy, one in each hand, and I take a second cup (it's a big one) and just whoosh! Really quick, but he smiles and laughs so I think he enjoys it.
