Henna Tattoo's - Anyone know anything about them?

MoonMama wrote: My little sister and some of her friends REALLY want to get some henna tattoo pens for an up coming sleep over to give each other tattoos. They only last about 7 days (or so what I've been reading says) and I have checked with the other girls parents to make sure they are ok with it. I have know issue with the idea of it, I mean it only lasts a week and lets face it they could be doing something a whole lot worse. unsure.gif Anyway I was looking online and I checked around town a bit. And they seems kind of pricy to me $24-$40 for ONE pen so is they want 3-4 colors we are talking $100 here. wacko.gif They will be using their own money to buy them. What I am wondering, is it worth it? Has anyone ever had one and had a bad reaction to what's in them? How long do they really last? TIA.

MyBabeMaddie replied: Definitely not worth it! They said it would last a couple of weeks, uhh try ONE day....

My3LilMonkeys replied: The do it yourself at home ones don't last as long as they say they do. When I was in HS we did them, it said it would last 10-14 days, it lasted 3.

sparkys2boys replied: That's alot for what it is.. Maybe they could take that money and go to the movies or something instead .. kwim. Hope they have fun on whatever they decide!

PrairieMom replied: I got one this summer, it lasted about 10 days, but it fades pretty fast. I think it would be pretty harmless, but I would make sure an adult applies it, just to make sure that the tats are tasteful, and appropriate.

mom21kid2dogs replied: Olivia's had a few. The henna we've inherited (from my 21 yo niece) is in a tube and some in bottles. I'd say they've lasted maybe 3-5 days at the most. We got some tat stencils with them. O thinks they are really fun. I'm sure the pens would be less messy. We apply the others with cotton swabs and it can be messy.

A&A'smommy replied: I have had them before and they lasted probably up to two weeks or longer it was fun and worth it for me!!

MoonMama replied: Thanks so much for the info everyone. thumb.gif Sounds like it should be fine so we'll see. They are still unsure if they want to do them or not. rolleyes.gif

grandma replied: If I were you I'd just get the peel, dampen and pull one's, they last two or three days and are way less money.

MoonMama replied:
Oh I SOOO agree with you. rolling_smile.gif But they want to be able to design and draw them, I guess that's teenagers for you. rolleyes.gif

grandma replied:
Oh, I missed the 'teenager' part, that's a different story.......hum - wish you could find them cheaper!

MoonMama replied:
Me too....glad they are using their own money! emlaugh.gif emlaugh.gif

salim_arjumand replied: Well...henna tattoos are extremely popular in India. The genuine ones are devoid of any chemicals....and they last for quite a long time and do not cause any harm. They are quite expensive but I prefer those. And the natural ones leave a very cooling sensation on the hands!!
