Help! hives!!!

catou_98 replied: Did you check out the links I posted you on your other tread? you might find some info over there...maybe!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I don't have any suggestions, but if they get worse I would take her to see the doctor. I hppe this clears up soon!
Boys r us replied: Have you given her benedryl? That may help with the hives. But I would still let her dr know.
kimberley replied: i read the links, thanks Isabelle. i was going in internet circles last night looking for info and kept getting linked back to some US page where you report reactions to vaccines. the night only got worse. she went from being normal one minute to another break out and being really lethargic and twitchy. she was just not herself at all and not taking in much fluids. took her to the ER and she really broke out when we were with the triage nurse. her whole head, scalp and all, started swelling and breaking out in hives. her eyes were all puffy and dotted. it was heartbreaking! we got put in a room where they attached a bag for urine sample. she didn't pee in the 3 hours we were there even though i nursed her most of the time. she was just so limp and non-responsive. jamie stayed here with the boys, so i was on my own and started to freak out a little. we tried to get some benadryl and tylenol in her but she just threw it all up. i was told to watch her breathing and fluid intake and if she got worse to come back and they would need to put in an IV. she slept from about 5am til 11am and seems better now. i still have to wait the 2 weeks or whatever for any further reactions from the MMR. i am just so upset about all this. i know i shouldn't worry about what *could* happen, but it is hard not to. she is so precious to me, i just don' t think i could take it if something is wrong with her. i feel responsible
MommyToAshley replied: Oh my, I think I would have freaked out. But, so glad to hear she is doing better! Did the docs at the ER say it was just a reaction to the shot? What did they tell you to do to help? Poor little girl!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Poor baby girl! I'm glad she's doing a little better. Was it just a reaction to the shot? That sounds so scary.
kimberley replied: yes, they figured it was a reaction to the shot. all he said was to give her benadryl and tylenol and keep a close eye on her breathing and fluid intake. she was fine all morning and is starting to get a little hive rash on her face now, so i am going to give her more benadryl. poor girl
Kaitlin'smom replied: aww poor thing that is scary, glad she is doing better.
A&A'smommy replied: Poor baby!!!! How is she now?
loveydad replied: nicky got hives after his measles vaccination _ i think that was the one.
DansMom replied: Kimberley, that is an awful experience---I can't imagine. I would have been terrified. I know that the MMR has some eggwhite---does Jade eat eggs yet? I'm so sorry you and she went through this, and hoping she is feeling better now.
kimberley replied: thanks everyone. she seems to break out the most at night she does eat eggs and has no reaction to them so that isn't it. the hives are awful but the part that scares me is how her behaviour changes. one minute she is her bright, sunny self, the next, a lethargic, limp baby. i hope it passes soon.
Mommy2BAK replied: Aww, poor little Jade, I hope she gets better soon! Give her a hug for us all!
A&A'smommy replied: ugh poor girl!!! I hope she gets better soon that must so scary for you!((((HUGS)))))
