Help! Meg is coughing non-stop

5littleladies wrote: It's a dry cough so I'm not really concerned about it, but my poor little girl is miserable! She is trying to watch a movie and cannot stop coughing. I gave her some dimetap and then realized there was no cough suppressant in it. dry.gif Is there anything I can give her? Anything I can do to help it stop? I feel terrible for her-she sounds awful. sad.gif

mckayleesmom replied: Have you tried a cough drop? If you don't have any offhand..maybe a piece of candy she can suck on in the meantime to coat her throat..She is probably coughing cause her throat is scratchy and dry.

5littleladies replied:
K-I just tried that, and she spit it out. She isn't being very cooperative. rolleyes.gif

Alice replied: Why not treat it like croup, and run a real hot shower, put her in the room and let her inhale the steam?

Or mix half and half honey and lemon juice and let her drink that by the spoonful; it helps sometimes.

Good luck!

boocoomomma replied: Honey and lemon always worked for me. That's what my Mom used to give us when all else failed. At bedtime she even sometimes put a little whiskey in it. snooze.gif

5littleladies replied: Thanks for the advice guys. Before I got to try anything I found something that helped. She fell asleep. wub.gif My poor little lady was exhausted. I hope she is feeling better tomorrow. sad.gif

MommyToAshley replied: I am glad that she is getting some rest. I hope she feels better tomorrow. grouphug.gif

Josie83 replied: You've had lots of god suggestions! I just wanted to add, make sure she is getting lots and lots of water! Simple but it works! wink.gif I really hope that she's feeling better soon too grouphug.gif xx

Celestrina replied: Thank goodness she was able to fall asleep! I know when I have a nasty cough I'll be awake all night.

coasterqueen replied: grouphug.gif I wish I knew. Kylie has been sick with a cough, runny nose for 20 days now. bawling.gif She's been on antibiotics but apparently what she has is viral so it didn't help. I have an appointment to get her into her doc on Friday because she just won't stop coughing. I hate to have to wait til Friday but I don't trust the nurse practioner and my ped is gone til then. sad.gif

I hope she gets better soon. If my ped tells me of anything I'll let you know wink.gif.

5littleladies replied:
Poor girl!! sad.gif I hope the doctor can give you something for her. These coughs and colds are no fun. dry.gif

kimberley replied: poor girls! i hope Meg and Kylie are feeling better soon grouphug.gif

ammommy replied: Are you running a humidifier? We have to run one in every room in our house to keep the stuffy noses and coughs away.

My2Beauties replied:
Oh Karen, sounds just like Hanna! I have tried everything, Triaminic helps for a bit though, but then she goes back to coughing a few hours later, the docs also said she had a viral infection on top of alleriges. She has had a runny nose for quite some time too!

To everyone : I think it's this crazy weather, everyone is falling ill, I think we should all take off of work, take off of school, keep ourselves in the house until the weather gets warm tongue.gif A girl can dream right?
