Heart palpitations

A&A'smommy wrote: I have been having those a lot here lately and I'm just wondering if I should call the nurses at my Dr's. office to tell them about it.. normally (and not before I got pregnant just in the last month) I have about one every other day.. but I had one yesterday and then I one today and it made me have to catch my breath and then I had another one about 30 minutes later that wasn't as bad.. and it has left me feeling kinda weird.. not bad but just a little weird. Should i be concerned?

PrairieMom replied: It would be worth a call, just to be sure. I get them all the time too. I have heard that it helps to take a deep breath and bear down for a second or two when you get them. Something about changing the pressure in your chest cavity or something.

kimberley replied: i would mention it to your OB just to be safe. keep us posted. hug.gif hug.gif

A&A'smommy replied: Thanks Tara and Kimberley!! I called my OB anyway, I got hung up on (accident) transfered to admissions blink.gif both by the same girl (i guess she was having issues) finally got another message girl, a nurse called back talked to me, asked questions and then talked to my dr. and he said for me to go to the ER and get "evaluated" they kept asking about my blood pressure and its almost ALWAYS normal unless I'm nervous and I can almost promise that its going to be high the first time they do it because I'm going to be nervous. rolleyes.gif I'm SO ill I hate going to the er wink.gif

I get them also and that is exactly what I do when they start up then they go away

momofone replied: I hope your ok keep us posted. hug.gif

jcc64 replied: See how common they are, Jessy? Your dr is right to be cautious, but I'm pretty certain it's gonna be nothing. They're called PVC's- premature ventricular contractions, and they're almost always harmless. They can be exacerbated by caffeine, alcohol, smoking, weed, and most of all for me- stress. Hormones too, I'm sure.
About the blood pressure thing- I'm the same way. I'm like a deer in the headlights in a medical environment- prime conditions for anxiety induced high blood pressure. You might do well to get one of those home kits and take it yourself. That's what I did, on my ob's recommendation, and it was always normal at home. KUP and hug.gif

A&A'smommy replied: Thanks everyone!!!! The nurse I talked to that told me that i needed to get evaluated told me all kinds of stuff about them.. and she said that is VERY normal but he wanted me to get checked the first thing I did was rolleyes.gif "oh crap" I HATE going to the ER, BUT good thing was I was in out in about an hour and half thats quicker than some of my regular Dr's visits tongue.gif .. they did an E.K.G, checked my blood pressure, watched my heart rate, took some blood (and can I just say that I hope that woman NEVER takes my blood again, I almost threw up cause of how bad she hurt me wacko.gif ) but anyway it was quick, and some friends came up there and sat with me and Jeremiah so it made the time fly. tongue.gif anyway thanks for the advice!!!

Jeanne I was SO proud of myself my blood pressure was normal, I remained calm tongue.gif Well except when I saw the needle come out that thing was HUGE!!!

Calimama replied: Glad everything is okay! hug.gif I get them sometimes from intense stress.

jcc64 replied: Good for you, Jessy! Glad it turned out to be nothing. Now go take a nice warm bath and relax! hug.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: I'm glad the tests went so well for you
