Headbands - out of style?

amynicole21 wrote: My sister's wedding is coming up and I'm the Matron of Honor. I'm trying to figure out what to do with my hair, which is pretty long and curly. I look really fat when it's up - it just accentuates my chins blush.gif If I wear it down, it doesn't look fancy enough. I was looking at hair accessories this weekend and saw a really funky thick black silk headband with crystals that match the beading on my dress. Would this look ok? I see headbands at stores all the time, but never really see them ON anyone, you know? Well, not since the 90s anyway tongue.gif

moped replied: Personally I would say not to - sorry!

dito.gif Maybe a half up and half down style?

PrairieMom replied: I don't know much about fashion, I have seen people wearing them around here, but we tend to be a little behind in the trends. I also think it depends on the type of band it is. Is it thick, thin, or what ever.
What about if your curled your hair and just stuck some rhinstone accessories in it somehow?

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I've never been a headband fan. What about just some soft curls with maybe a cute rhinestone or beaded bobby pin on the side. Big wavy curls are in, so I think wearing it down is okay if you do something a little different than your normal style. JMHO.

luvmykids replied: Sorry, I'd have to say no too. I like the half up/down idea.

kit_kats_mom replied: Yah, I'd say no
sorry Amy. Maybe just pull a few strands up in the front & secure them with bobby pins to hold the rest of it back of of your face

DansMom replied: Retro is the new fashionable... I think you could get away with it.

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I wouldn't go with the thick headband, but maybe something like this.

Headband

I was going to describe it, but I needed a picture. This site has a couple like that. Maybe give you some ides.

My3LilMonkeys replied: I think it all depends on the person. When Rocky (Zenmommy) posted the pictures of her haircut I loved the way she looked in a headband. I, on the other hand, look like crap in them!

Jamison'smama replied: I think they are making a comeback--ala Reese Witherspoon

coasterqueen replied: I thought I saw some pics of celebs somewhere with them. I say go for it. thumb.gif You will look beautiful either way. thumb.gif

3_call_me_mama replied: I'm by no means a fashion expert but i think they look nice if not over done. I wore one in a wedding last year and it had teh clips on it to sort of twist you hair back in individual strands and make it look really nice btu not much work. I thought it looked nice as did everyone i talked to/ showed teh pictrues to. I'd say ask soem friends that you see IRL and try it on for them and go from there.

CosmetologyMommy replied: No headband in my opinion. Maybe get some little butterfly clips and cute bobby pins and pin the hair up in front a little.

Mommy2BAK replied:
iagree.gif

MamaJAM replied: Sounds like it would match the dress nicely - I say DO IT!

I know several ladies who wear headbands daily....they look very nice and stylish (IMO).

widgetX12 replied: I think headbands can be very cute.

awww...thanks!!! emlaugh.gif

I think headbands are ok - what is NOT ok, is having the 50s style teasing done behind the headfband... you know.. so the headbands looks more like a tiara than a headband? laugh.gif (think Austin Powers chicks)

mckayleesmom replied: I like headbands....and I like the ones that go all the way around the elastic ones.....Maybe you can find a really cute one at Clairs....I also like how woman are wearing scarves in their hair now a days......but I don't think I can pull it off.

xKirstyMaex replied: Headbands are back in style, its hard to say whether i think you should wear it as you havent put up a pic but id say go with it! In all the celeb mags its saying where to buy headbands and all the celebd are wearing them!
