Hard time finding 1/2 sizes for shoes
MommyToAshley wrote: Am I the only one that has a hard time finding 1/2-sizes in shoes? Ashley needs new shoes again, and I am having a hard time finding 7-1/2's. Even the stores that have 1/2-sizes seems to be out of her size. I seem to have problems every time she needs a 1/2-size.
ammommy replied: We have to shop at kids shoe stores to find the right sizes, especially since we need wides. I know what you mean about stores being out of your size. I think half of my suburb has children that wear my kid's clothing sizes.
Jamison'smama replied: Jamison is in 7.5 now. I bought some at Target, some at Stride Rite and some at the Strite RIte outlet in Jeffersonville. I saw some 7.5 shoes in WalMart yesterday but be careful, I think a lot of their shoes run larger--you may only need a 7.
Have you tried JC Penney or Kohls?
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I went through this when Emily was a toddler and ended up having to order her shoes through the Sears catalouge. I guess I'm lucky with Claudia she is still in size 5 and has been in size 5 for about 6mths. I am having a hard time finding size 5 sandles for her, but other than that I've never really had a problem. I tried on a pair of her size 6 hiking boots, way to big!
Kaitlin'smom replied: Have you tried payless, even onlie the have more, you can ship then to the store for free and if they dont fit or you dont like them you dont have to take them. (oh you will have to use a cc to ship them there but they dont charge until they ring them up)
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: We just found 7.5 for Matt at Kids foot locker. They told me they don't tend to carry as many of the half sizes becuase people don't tend to realize their kids feet aren't fitting in the shoes right until they are ready to go up a full size.
5littleladies replied: I think we've gotten shoes in half sizes from both Target and Payless. I hate getting shoes-It's such a pain trying to find the right sizes.
ian'smommy replied: I don't think I ever had a problem with half sizes... It seems the problem for me is not f inding Ian shoes that fit lengthwise... I have a heck of a time though finding ones that fit him widthwise... Seems like a lot of the shoes I find are too narrow for his feet... I lucked out occasional and found ones that fit him perfectly and then before I know it, I have to look for new ones becuase he outgrew them.... He is in size 8's already...
MomToJade&Jordan replied: The Kmart here has a lot of shoes most of the time and if you hit the store after a shipment they always have a bunch of half-sizes. I usually buy Jade a pair of white sandals since it's usually warm here. You would think those would be easy to find. They are not. I have been in Payless, but always leave there disappointed because they hardly have anything ever.
ammommy replied: Have you tried Gap? Their shoes tend to run wide. I can get Alec's chumky little feet in them. Ok, not so little. He's in an 11!
ian'smommy replied: What do prices usually run for shoes from there? I have never shopped there for anything in fact. I typically don't like to buy shoes for Ian that cost more than $10... I don't even buy MYSELF shoes for more than that if I can help it...
coasterqueen replied: Kylie was in 7.5, still in some but mostly 8's now but we go to a special Stride Rite store. Also Payless and Target have some.
coasterqueen replied: You sound like me. I am so cheap when buying shoes for myself.
ian'smommy replied: For me, yes, it's because I'm just too cheap... But for Ian I just don't see the point of spending more than that since they won't fit him for long...
ediep replied: I have a hard time finding half sizes too. Right now Jason is wearing Nike sneakers that I got in Kohls. They are an 8, but I know that Nike runs small, so its more like a 7 1/2 . I really have to take him to stride rite, but I just hate going to the mall. I also got him a piar of boat shoes at Stride rite outlet, but I don't think I'll go back there.
My Dh used to work at a shoe store for about 8 years, he is really picky when it comes to Jason's shoes. Either DH needs to come with us to help make sure the new shoes fit right, or I have to bring Jay to a store where the store workers fit him. I am always unsure if I am feeling a toe or just the shoe
3_call_me_mama replied: ITA! When Cameron was a 7 1/2 it was impossible to find shoes for him. We ended up at stride rite and ordering them, also i went on ebay and got a couple pairs. Just search NWT or new. Good luck! We still have shoe issues, except the problem now is.... He's in a 9 ! and everyhting comes in velcro (which i HATE) and they all have those lights! (Which i also do not care for). So he mostly wears work boots or hikers cause they are the only thing i can find in his size with laces.
