Hard boiled eggs.... easy way to peel
MommyToAshley wrote: My MIL told me that if you add a little salt to the water when you boil eggs then the shells are really easy to peel. (I always peeled them under cold water and that doesn't always work) I tried it last night when I made chicken salad and it worked! The shells came right off... so easy! So, I thought I would pass the tip along and hopefully someone can use it.
alice&arik replied: My mom told me that at Easter time when I asked her how to boil them. I'm not that good in the kitchen. Works pretty good!!!
momof2girls replied: I did not know that, I will try next time Im always making deliled eggs when we go somewhere, Im told I make them good, although I cant stand eggs! haha
MomToMany replied: Yep, that works really good!
lsjulee replied: Yap, add salt to the water can hold the egg in case it breaks during boiling. My late father taught me that. He was a superb cook.
Mom2Boyz replied: I'll have to remember that next time I boil eggs I also saw this thing on tv called the eggstactor that you put the egg in and push down and the shell is suppose to come right off.
jem0622 replied: Another trick is to put the hot eggs in a sandwich bag with the shells on. Let them sit for about 5-10 minutes. Crack them in the bag. They peel very easily. I think it's the condensation in the bag and build up of condensation between the egg and the shell.
I love hard boiled eggs!
jcc64 replied: I once saw this guy on stupid human tricks on Letterman who was the world record holder of hard boiled egg peelers or something like that (hey, it takes all kinds, right? Who would've thought there'd be competition for a title like that?!) He had this technique that involved putting the egg on a surface, pressing down hard and then kind of rolling it forward while still exerting pressure on it. I swear, the shell comes off in virtually one piece every time!
Heather replied: Another trick is this:
Add a tablespoon of vinegar to the water while you are boiling them. It helps keep the egg together if they break while boiling. It has worked every time for me
DansMom replied: I love deviled eggs. I'm going to add salt and vinegar to the water next time I boil eggs and see what happens! Thanks!
jolene555 replied: hiya. i used to work in a kitchen, and i learned 2 tricks to boiled eggs. add salt to the water was #1. #2 was that after they've boiled to IMMEDIATELY put them under cold running water until the eggs are cool enough to be handled. this not only makes them much easier to pell, but also leaves the yolk completely golden instead of having that ugly pea green hue.

3_call_me_mama replied: It works really! Ever since i can remember my mother used to bang the hard boiled egg against the edge of the sink adn roll it back and forth until the shell was all crumbly looking and then she would push against it and it would come off in one piece! I still use this method, even though everyone thinks it's odd!
