Hair Pulling! - She's driving me mad!!!!

EvesMom wrote: I'm about ready to shave my head! Evelynn will not keep her little fingers out of my hair. I tie it up as tight as I can, and she still gets a chunk and rips it out. It seems she gets her kicks out of making me writhe in agony. Dh says tell her no... I do but it doesn't phase her. What do I do!?! growl.gif

luvmykids replied: I would guess she gets a kick out of your reaction, maybe try not to show it and just firmly say "NO, that hurts." Or just making her let go and going about your business?

kayla's mama replied: We are having the same problems. Kayla will yank and yank on my hair. I think I might have a bald spot laugh.gif I just hate it when she gets the little baby hairs and pull those.....OUCH!!!!!

What I've done and it seems to work is....when she is pulling my hair I firmly tell her "NO" with a light tap on the hand. She hasn't done it in days.....knock on wood.

holley79 replied: I'm going to have to try that light tap thing. Annika gets a kick out of pulling my hair also. Never fails. Then of course if we are nursing in bed then she likes to hold my hair. Who knows?!?!?!? rolleyes.gif

Nina J replied: If your at home, and your holding her, I'd suggest saying 'no' firmly, and putting her down and ignore her for a few minutes. My friend used to do that with her son, and he stopped.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: I don't know. wacko.gif Andrew doesn't pull my hair on purpose, but he's been biting, pinching, and scratching me. Saying no firmly and tapping him on the hand hasn't done any good so far. Most of the time he actually smiles at me when I do that! unsure.gif

EvesMom replied: When I tell Evelynn "No" she gets real serious looking, then smiles and shakes her head no. dry.gif It's so cute and I just can't help but happy.gif .

msoulz replied: Mine has just started what seems like purposely reaching for my hair instead of accidentally closing her hands around it. I'm wondering if it's because my hair is so dark (against my pasty skin) or if it just because it is dangling within reach. Any thoughts?

Bee_Kay replied: I would guess that a real firm NO (maybe even enough to give her a little startle) would probably get her to stop.
Children (even little babies) are incredibly intelligent! wink.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I just cut my hair. blush.gif

huggybugboy replied: Miles did that a lot too. With me, the cat, the dog, anything with hair. I really worked on him with "Be gentle." I would say "OUCH!" and then show her the nice way to touch your hair. He does pretty good now, especially with the cat. happy.gif

EvesMom replied: Come to think of it, she pulls the cat's hair too. She also puts her hands around his neck. ohmy.gif But he is real good about it. He just looks at me like "Why?" Poor kitty.

holley79 replied: Annika reaches for the dogs hair also and they look at me like, "When is the stray leaving." LOL

I am going to make some nursing beads and see if I can occupy her hands that way. I'll let you know how they work. I also keep my hair pulled up when I'm nursing but there is always those loose tender hairs still within reach. ohmy.gif

I'm thinking of doing that also for the same reason. Mine is getting so long Andrew can't help but pull it most of the time because it's always in the way when he's grabbing onto me. rolleyes.gif
