Had consult with ENT today

amynicole21 wrote: Well, the osteopathic therapy isn't going as well as hoped, and my ped urged me to see an ENT for Sophia's ear infections. I had the consult today, and just as I thought, they are recommending tubes. I scheduled her surgery for the Friday before 4th of July weekend. I'm kind of bummed about it, but I'm hopeful that this will put an end to her suffering. Now to get me through the surgery without having a panic attack wacko.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: darn it! dry.gif I'm so sorry. I would freak out if K had to have any kind of surgery. That is such a bummer. sad.gif

jdkjd replied: Both of you will be fine. I got tubes and have no memory of it. I'm sure Mommy will be in worse shape than baby!

Kirstenmumof3 replied: grouphug.gif Amy we just went through this with Claudia. Tubes doens't prevent ear infections it just allows the ears to drain. Claudia had 3 more infections after she had the tubes, but now she is fine. She was back to her old self again the very next day. Try not to worry she will be fine. Have someone come to the hospital with you, so you won't be waiting alone. grouphug.gif

A&A'smommy replied: awww I'm sorry the therapy didn't work! ((((BIG HUGS)))) She will be fine and so will you, in fact she will be better after this!

kimberley replied: sad.gif sorry to hear she has to have surgery. (((hugs))) to you both. i am sure everything will be just fine and it will be over before you know it. p&pt coming your way.

alice&arik replied: That's too bad!! Poor girl. sad.gif I remember my brother had tubes in his ears. One day we were at the lake swimming and he pulled them out. I don't know how he did it. But I think he was supposed to have cotton in his ears when he swam. It was weird. But that was a very long time ago. happy.gif

momof2girls replied: I have not gone thru this myself but a close friend of mine did, her son was almost 3 he had adenoids removed as same time as tubes, that night I called to see how he was and he was running around acting like a nut, was like he did not even have surgery, I could not beleive it, I thought he would be out of it for a few days.
I know he gets sick less often now. Not sure if that is why.

Good luck I know that is scary for mom to go thru.

ediep replied: I'm sure she will be fine. I sure hope it helps to put an end to her ear infections. grouphug.gif

coasterqueen replied: Aww, Amy I was hoping to not hear that. sad.gif I'm going to be gone on vacation when she has her surgery, but I will be thinking about the both of you and will keep Sophia in my P&PT's. ((HUGS))

DansMom replied: Sorry the alternative therapy didn't work---it was good to try it, though.

jcc64 replied: You gotta do what you gotta do, Amy. It's a relatively minor procedure, one they've probably done a million times, and she will have absolutely no memory of it. You've explored other options, and apparently, she is a candidate for this particular surgery. In the end, I'm sure you'll be glad you did this so you can be done with those relentless infections. good luck, and try not to worry, she'll be just fine.

MommyToAshley replied: grouphug.gif Awwee, I am sorry that Sophia has to have surgery. But, hopefully it will put an end to all those ear infections. I am sure it will be harder on you than it will be on her. We'll be here to help you get through it though. grouphug.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: awww sorry the therapy did not work, what a bummer, and like other said it will be harder on you than her, but do try and have someone with you.

aspenblue1 replied: I am so sorry she needs tubes. One of my friends little girl just finally got tubes and it has been a wonderful thing for her. She can hear so much better and is much happier. I hope everything goes well.

CantWait replied: I'm so sorry, I'm sure everything will go fine though. grouphug.gif grouphug.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied: **HUGS** I'm sorry that Sophia is going to have to get the tubes, but it's going to help her in the long run. I had a neighbor who had to have this done to both of her children. This stuff is always tough on the parent. Sophia is going to be fine and hopefully you will not have to deal with anymore ear infections.
