Had a scare today. Baby is ok, mommy is shaken
kit_kats_mom wrote: I'm still shaking. My sitter, her 3 yo daughter and Katherine went for a walk while I worked at home. They were only gone for about 10 minutes when I hear the door slam open, lots of screaming and crying from both kids and the sitter screaming that there was an accident. I fly downstairs and DD is covered in blood which is coming from her mouth. I got weak in the knees but I get a cold cloth to wipe her face so I can see what the damage is. It looked like she was bleeding from the mouth but I couldn't tell where from. Poor sitter is shaking like a leaf, and her daughter is scraped up and crying. I managed to hold it together enough to get a diaper bag ready, get an ice pack for the 3yo and to nurse Katherine to try to stop the screams. She nursed well so I assumed it was probably nothing but I was concerned about the possiblity of a split gum so I took her to the dr. Of course, I lost it in the car...mama and baby were both crying and I let more than a few choice words fly to the poor drivers who were going the speed limit. Anyway, she split her fenulum (sp?) The little membrane that holds your upper lip to your gum, and has a scraped lip not to mention a fat lip. The dr. told me to get "Hurricane Gel" which is like oragel but doesn't taste as bad and is double strength. He said that there is nothing that they can do and that it will probably never grow back but it won't effect her speech or anything. I called the sitter when I got home to check on her and her kid and they are ok but a little bit banged up. I also got the full story. Apparently, she was pushing the stroller and her kids bike (a riding thing with a long pole in the back). The bike fell over and her DD fell into the street (A very busy street) and when she lept to get her DD out of the road, she got tangled in the stroller and all 3 of them tumbled into the road! The stroller flipped but Katherine was belted in so she didn't fall out. I guess she hit her lip on the tray in the front. I just keep thinking how much worse it could have been. People speed on this road all of the time and they were right around a corner so an oncoming driver wouldn't have seen them if they had been speeding. DH came home from work just to check on us and I am going to be holding her extra close today...lots of cuddles! She is downstairs now giggling with her daddy. I feel better now. Writing it down helps to get some of the stress out. I still feel a little nauseaus though. Poor boo.
ediep replied: OH MY!!! POOR BABY!!! I am sooooooo glad that she is ok. You should probabaly make yourself a cup of tea and relax!!!
jdkjd replied: I am SO glad everyone is ok!! I would have had a stroke.
Big hugs from us!!
amynicole21 replied: Oh my goodness. I would have been frantic, too. Poor baby! I bet your sitter was horrified. I'm so glad it wasn't any worse. I cringe when I think of all of the bumps, bruises and scrapes Sophia is going to get in her sweet little life. If it wouldn't scar her for life, I'd probably invest in some sort of protective padding and helmet for her to wear 24-7.
Go give her a snuggle from me, please. And save a hug for yourself.
Kaitlin'smom replied: aww I am so glad she is okay! that must have been horrible to see your DD bleeding like that! I would have been crying to! I am just glad nothing more serouse happened and she will be fine.I bet the sitter feels horrible about what happened hugs to everyone!
Mommieto2Girls replied: OMG That's awful. Thank god she and the others are ok. You handled it like a real pro, hope I can do that in time of crisis. Glad to hear everything will be ok.

Hugs to all of you - and someone was watching over everyone, for sure!!
TLCDad replied: Oh my what a scare! I am glad everyone is ok. It could of been so worse. God was definitly looking over them.

Schnoogly replied: omg forget the tea have a gin and tonic! How scary! Glad she is OK!! Steph
Mommieto2Girls replied: hehe, maybe you should have 2. I hope she is feeling better now.
kit_kats_mom replied: Aw thanks for all the support. I love you guys! Gin & tonic? Yum! I might just do that after she goes to sleep. She is fine now, the swelling has gone down and she has been pretty happy for the rest of the afternoon. I even got a suprise visit from one of our board members (Thanks Jenn! That meant alot to me). Katherine has had LOTS of hugs now, I gave her one from each of you, and she sends back some ginger kisses from her puffy lips. I did totally freak out and I am still a little tense but I am just glad it wasn't anything worse. I just might start looking into a tiny helmet for her. I just can't believe that as clumsy as I am, I haven't been the one to give her her first two big boomies.
