Growing Pains

Kaitlin'smom wrote: anyone here have a child or childeren going through or gone through them?

yesterday moring I was woken up to Kaitlin screaming from her room, DH got her and brought her in and said she cant walk, her leggs are asleep. Okay so in bed with me well a couple hours later and numerous time be woken up telling me her leggs hurt I got up ( I never do get to sleep in anymore) she was asleep so I got a shower and was getting ready. She woke up and tried to walk to the potty but could not even really manage that, I told her I woudl take her to be looked at, well after getting to the childernes ER and checked in she felt better and her legs hurt less, so we opted not to be seen, DH said I think she is having growing pains like I did as a kid, well I never had them, but it does sounds like thats what might be going on. she said if felt more tight pain then sharp pain. She has been going through a growth spurt. I might take her to the doc just to be sure if it keeps up though, she was fine this morning.

luvbug00 replied: we haven't experienced anything like this with mya. ( i think she's cursed to be under 5 feet like me emlaugh.gif ) but anyway I hope Kaitlin feels better hug.gif

DansMom replied: I remember having those when I grew fast during puberty. Yes, if the growth is unusually fast your bones will ache! Poor Kaitlin.

amymom replied: I would have her checked to be sure. My dd has them sometimes. Her pediatrician we had until she was 7 called them growing pains. Two of my brothers had them.... they are both 6'4" tall now. Her ped, we have now, kind of poo-poos the idea that there is such a thing. But I know her pain is real and it only happens during the night. When Mary Beth's nutrician (sp?) is better she experiences them less. So make sure Kaitlin's vitamin intake is good, whether in food or pill form. Good Luck! Any questions let me know.

I did see your other post and was going to write to you, but you started this.

Kaitlin'smom replied: yes I try and remember everyday to get her vitamins in, but somedays we forget.

coasterqueen replied:
This is what I was going to say. I remember them, too, but not that young.

lisar replied: I had them I was around 10. My back would hurt alot. We went to dr and they did a scoliosis check and did an x-ray and thats what they said was that it was growing pains.

Boo&BugsMom replied: Tanner has been having them lately in his legs and feet. They can get tham at any age.

boyohboyohboy replied: I am so glad I came across this post, because caleb is 5 and he has been complaining lately of pains in all sorts of areas, but he is eating and playing normally around them....but is a daily thing. I was just getting ready to head to the dr myself, wondering how you explain the unexplainable pain.....but we might just hold off now.

A&A'smommy replied: I went through AWFUL growing pains from the time I was her age (or younger) until I was like 18 (I was pregnant) and now whenever I get tired I get really bad leg cramps I don't know if it has anything to do with the growing pains or not. wink.gif Poor baby I hope she don't have them as bad I did. You can give her tylenol for the pain!! hug.gif

MommyToAshley replied: Poor girl... How she doing now? Is she still having the growing pains?

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: My sister has very long legs and would often get those pains at night. My legs are much shorter and I don't remember ever hurting like that. But we shared a room, so if she was up, so was I.

luvmykids replied: Could it be cramps? If she says it's a tight pain and it hurts to walk I'd check that out, I used to get terrible, terrible calf cramps at night but not as a kid, but what you're describing sure sounds like those cramps. My doctor said it was a potassium deficiency.

I never did have growing pains but do remember what my mom called growing discomfort laugh.gif I used to complain that it felt like my muscles needed to stretch out but couldn't because there wasn't room.
