Gripe... well sort of

I also appreciate him working extra hard to get finished early on the days that are set aside for him to watch the girls while I attend school. Some days they go to my mothers, and others to my fathers.
But on the days that he is watching them, do I really have to come home to a house that looks as though a tornado came through it?
Not complaining what so ever. But geesh! I am glad they have a good time, and can rest peacefully at the end of the night.
My3LilMonkeys replied: I hear ya there! I hate working all day and then coming home to spend my night cleaning.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Nicole~ You are too funny and so kind! I can understand your wishes that your house be clean when you get home-but yet you say it in the kindest way! I have to share this story with you...Bill's Uncle Dennis is one of the crazy fun, good time guy,type...When his wife left him in charge of the kids they had HANDS ONLY dinners...and I don't mean sandwiches-he would make spagetti or mashed potatoes-the biggest messy meal possible and it was the deal that his wife cleaned it up!
C&K*s Mommie replied:
No deals from me. He would be cleaning up the kids, the table, their clothes
Thank you Abbie for the kind words. I just did not want anyone to misunderstand and think that I am ungrateful. Otoh, in the next day following Chris watching the kids, I am never short of chores- on top of the other chores that I already do.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Part procrastination, part not wanting to make too much noise and have two sleepy eyed children come exploring, I put cleaning up off till the next day.
punkeemunkee'smom replied:
I thought the same thing when I first heard the story! But then I listened to his kids tell it-they were older then but the joy of those hands only dinners still got them to giggleing There has been a few times that Bill and Tay have made a mess that I wanted to throw at him but I try to remember the story of the hands free dinners and I know that if they are making memories like that I don't mind the cleaning up quite so much It is the everyday messes that still get me
Nina J replied: I think it's a Chris thing Anytime my DH watches the kids while I go out, I come home and the house looks like a pack of hungry wolves were in it. The worst time was when he pulled all of Emily's clothes out of the drawers because she wanted her purple shirt...it was in the dryer. I didn't know until I took Emily to bed and her clothes were everywhere

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Yep... I don't clean in the evenings either.... why should I? It's just going to get messy again at breakfast time...
jk
I typically clean while the kids are busy doing something else... if I need to clean up the kitchen, I clean it while the kids are eating, or playing with some playdough or coloring or whatever else at the table in the kitchen... if I need to clean in the rest of the main floor, the kids will sit at the dining room table rather than the kitchen table, or they will be playing on the piano while I clean... Upstairs I am really only concerned with the kids' bedrooms and the main bathroom... cuz my bedroom and ensuite bathroom are of limits... and the basement ALWAYS look like a tornado went through it, but that's ok, it's the playroom too. If I really feel like cleaning it, I just shove all the toys in the toybins...
I don't leave the kids unattended other than to go to the bathroom or to switch out a laundry load, so I'm kinda limited as to the chores I can do during the day... hee hee
Although now that I'm alone at home in the evenings, I'm more apt to do some chores in the evenings... I'm not tempted to join my dh and veg, cuz he's not here!
Maddy'sMommy replied: I go to school at night and I usually come home to the same thing.... infact I always make fun of it and tell him it looks like a tornado went through....but not last night. The house was clean... dishes washed and put away. It was nice. He even had the coffee ready for me to brew this morning.
CantWait replied: I know how annoying it can be. I go through the same thing when I work. I hate waking up to a messy and dirty house so it's always something I feel I have to clean before I go to bed.
Glad the kids are having a great time with dad though.
Boo&BugsMom replied: OH I HEAR YA!!!
A&A'smommy replied: OMG I SOOO know what you mean!!! Men
holley79 replied: Was the house a wreck when you got home Sunday?
C&K*s Mommie replied: Yes and no. Chocolate milk was on the floor under the couch, also on the counter. A wet spot (likely from potty training Kellie) was on the bed in the playroom. A few things out of place here and there. But all in all it was not the usual wreck that I come home to.
holley79 replied: You sure Chris isn't slipping C&K redbull? LOL
C&K*s Mommie replied: Yes, Nina- it must be a Chris thing.
Thanks ladies, but I guess I could say thanks to our men who help us to have one more common bond. Even if it is not the best common bond available.
C&K*s Mommie replied: welll...... they know what RB is not only because we have a friend who drives the van and comes here in the van, but they know first hand what it tastes like.
b&bsmom replied: Funny, when I leave dh the house usually looks better than when I left. I am so not good at keeping it clean, probably because everytime I clean it and gets dirty again ( I watch kids at home so that doesn't help either) so I can not really relate, I am sure that is what dh thinks about me!!!!
