Great News for DH!

Anyhow...he got a letter in the mail today FINALLY


They want ot interview him for a post office about 25 minutes from our house!!!!


WISH HIM LUCK.......... this is what he has been wanting for so long

my dh took his test, aug and got his call back for Jan. they just take forever so tell your dh not to be discouraged if it takes them forever to get back to him.
is this for the rural carrier position?
we are also hoping this becomes a new career for the same reasons as you I assume.

Yes he took the test in December last year. we have been watching online but nothing has opened up and finally we got a letter for an interview!!

it is for rural carrier and it is about 20-25 mins from our house. He is so excited his interview is tommorrow. It is a temporary position but the Benefits are awesome.

I dont know how it works there but around here once you get in you can pick up hours at all the other post offices. So he will be trying hard to get time wherever. He is self-employed kinda, LOL with my father and his business. So it all works out.

My hubby is a postal worker too 11 yrs ! And alot of those temp jobs can turn into permanent positions so good luck to you guys!

yes, here you can pick up extra hours also. he had two personal interviews and now is waiting on the drivers test. then he got the route that is once a week right behind our house. he was lucky and got to pick a company truck. lots of the rural carriers here have to use their own cars..

he isnt going to start until Jan. of 2009.
we are really excited to because of the bennefits, its one of the few jobs that still offer pensions..

and you can transfer and travel anywhere. which is or plan.

He will have to use his own vehicle. We have about 5 post offices within 30 minutes of us all different directions. So I know he will be able to pick up some other jobs there too.

So Stacey if your husband is only doing once a week will the benefits start right away?? My husband told me he thought you had to be full time to get them.


Anyhow, either way it is GREAT benefits!
