Grandparents! odd things they say
amymom wrote: My kids only have one Grandparent still living. My MIL is 88 yrs old and sometimes she says pretty odd things. Yesterday was Billy's 16th birthday and we are sitting having a nice time with cake and chatting. BTW she gave him a nice note with some $$ and she wrote "16! Stay as sweet as you are!! Make the right choices now because they could affect you the rest of your life." Nice right?
So my son reads the note, says "Oh Grandma that is nice and I will make the right choices. Thank you. And thanks for the money too!" All was sweet and fine or so I thought!!!!
So a little while later she says "Oh Billy, since you had such a good year 15, it must mean that your year at 16 you will be a rotten kid." He looks at her and says "What?" I was speechless! He was kind and said No Grandma, I am going to keep being a good kid. Then she goes on and explains all the ways he could be 'rotten'... like get bad grades, skip school, smoke pot, drink booze and drive! and she is going on and on. Finally, I had to stop her and I asked if she was joking? She said no all kids go through a rotten stage and he just didn't get there yet. But he couldn't grow up without becoming rotten so just I wait and see! OMG I just had to laugh at her. Which she didn't think was funny. I sent my kids off to watch tv and told her that just because her boys (she had 3 sons) gave her trouble didn't mean my son would!!! ugh!!! sometimes it is harder to raise her than my two kids!!!
sparkys2boys replied: Ok.. soryy but.. LOL!! What a wonderful bunch of comments she made. If he didn't have any thing bad to do she sure gave him alot of pointers!! Sorry that she said that to him. I am sure he will continue to be a great kid.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: older folks... gotta love em sometimes. Sometimes.
lisar replied: That is to funny. I remember my great-grandmother she would always say weired things. That came from the old old days. Gotta love them though.
CantWait replied: LOL oh gosh in some ways that's funny, but then you begin to think if you're going to be like that when you get older.
I missed it yesterday,
Happy Birthday Billy!!!!!!!!!!!
Calimama replied: Antonio's grandmother says weird things like that as well.
hoosier momma replied: This totally sounds like the kind of things my motherinlaw used to say.
A&A'smommy replied: OMG sorry to laugh but sometimes people have some REALLY strange ideas about life!!!
