Anyone know what we get back with a child here in the US? I actually have something to write off this year instead of just mileage. LOL

PrairieMom replied: I think it depends on your income. I saw on a commercial last night it said up to 1000 per child. I think we got 500 last year, but I'm not sure. I hate tax time.

Except our state does teh property tax prebate.. money you get back around the time your property taxes are due (kinda like they didnt' give you enough back in April so they give you a bit more back in September) But again that's based on income to homestead value and is only if you pay property taxes.

it IS $1000.00 a child EIC- but you will likely get more. i am looking forward to getting mine this year. i have to TRY and fix my car... which is a whole 'nother story!

I used to get about 175$ CTB for both kids, but I wasn't getting the max because my salary was higher... now that it's halved, maybe I'll get closer to 300$ a month for my Child tax benefit...including all 3 kids...

oh and i'm supposed to be getting a separate tax benefit in Quebec too... I don't know the amount - my taxes have to be sorted out first, we only filed 2004 last month.

But i'm gonna get a big cheque when I do get it... CTB retro fron July 2004 - and the quebec Baby bonus retro as of september 2004...

I can't wait!!

ETA - it's only too bad i'll have to pay off my taxes with it though... I owe 4700$...
