Got a vaporizer for Kaitlin

Kaitlin'smom wrote: Well its beena week now and Kaitlin seem to ba at the worst saturday with this cold, so I gave her some tylonal cold and cough (upon the peds ok) she seemed to be ok sunday morning, so off to the game DH and I went, then my sister called who was watching her told me she is sooo congested and has a fever (very low), so I tell her to go out and get the tylonal (forget to pack it). She did and gave her some and when I got back to pick her up she was sleeping. She seened ot be okay, but still a little congested, so I was going to go out and get her a vaporizer to see if that would help, well DH said I will go I want it up and running before she goes to sleep what a good daddy. So we got it and were unsure of putting the meds in so we went with just water last night. I do believe it has helped her. Tongiht upon the ped and a respatory therpists ok we can put a little of the vicks vapro in it. I hope this will all help her get better. I hate to hear/see her sick. I am just really watching he rot make sure she does not get RSV again or that it does not get into her chest.

Schnoogly replied: Oh I'm so sorry! Another thing that has helped us a lot is taking a shower together right before he goes to bed (and then major nose suckage with the bulb) or at least sitting in the bathroom with the hot shower on and the doors closed. Intense steam seemed to really help Iain.

We've sure BTDT the last few weeks--I'm glad the tylenol cold is working for her--Iain always barfed it up immediately.

Its been a nasty cold season. We all had something here too.... well still have... the longest cold I ever had.

yep the bulb she screams bloody murder when I used that but it does help her!

I tried the hot shower thing for the stam last night, but I had used all the hot water washing dishes! ops.

Thanks LOL can I blame it on you then? LOL just kidding, she has been around soooo many people with it I dunno who she got it from, but I would gladly take it from her if I could.

Kaitlin'smom replied: I went to feed her at luch and she was a little grouchy, so I gave her the next dose of the cold medicine and feed her then she perked up. Of couse then she bawled when I had to leave. I wish I did not have to work such long hours this week. She just wants to cuddle mommy.

MommyToAshley replied: Oh, poooor baby!! I know what you mean, I hate it when they are sick and would rather take it away from them and be sick myself.

Have you tried the Little Noses saline for the congestion. When Ashley wasn't feeling good, I would squirt a little of that in her nose right before her bath, and by the time I was putting her jammies on her, all that stuff was working it's way loose and she would blow it all out. Then, all I had to do was wipe her nose before she went to bed and I didn't need to use the "bulb" as much. She would still wake up once at night, and I would have to unstuff her nose. But, before I tried the Little Noses, she was waking up with a stuffy nose 3 or 4 times a night and breathing through her mouth. So, it definitely helped.

booey2 replied: Thanks for the reminder, I have either get ours out and get it cleaned or convince DH that we need to buy a new one as ours is gross and full of scale buildup. Vaporizers work great. Take Care.

She is not a congested as she was more a a little cough now, but I deffinalty might pick some of that up I hate using the bulb on her. Thansk for the suggestion. I hope she has had a good day and a better night sleep, so she can get over this. We are suppose to go to a picnic this sunday but if she is not better I will not go.

I use my vaporizer when Chloe gets sick and it sure does help!
