Good thing I don't
HuskerMom wrote: go to the movies much. I went to the movies tonight and saw What Happens in Vegas and holy cow are the movies expensive! It was 7.50 just to get in and then silly me thought well I hardly ever get anything to eat or drink so I got a small popcorn and medium coke and it was 9.35! That is insane! I wanted to cry when the kid told me how much it was. Almost 20 bucks for just me! And that doesn't even count what I spent on supper too, looks like ramen for me for a while!
Luckily the movie wasn't bad.
moped replied: Sorry girl.........that is cheap here....seriously, I think it is $13.00 for the movie and then easy another $15 for popcorn and a drink
HuskerMom replied: We just got a new theater about a year ago and the old one is still empty. I think someone should buy it and play the same movies for half the price, they'd make a killing!
I can't imagine paying $13 for a movie.
MoonMama replied: I like out $1.50 theater. Of course I see movies about 6 weeks after everyone else does....but then again we never get a chance to go so when we do we haven't seen anything anyway. So it works.
Calimama replied: Wow that's crazy. We get a military discount so our movies are $7!
luvmykids replied: I KNOW!!!!!
When I took the girls to see Enchanted I thought it might run me about $30 for a matinee, drinks and a snack....it was much closer to $50
gr33n3y3z replied: Its over 12.00 for a movie here depending on the movie and time
My3LilMonkeys replied: We can go as a family of 4 and easily spend $40 between tickets, drinks, and popcorn.
ZandersMama replied: i won't go. waaaay to much money. the only movies i try to see in theater are Harry Potters and spidermans lol. no wonder people pirate movies.
bawoodsmall replied: Ally are you a military wife? How did I not know that? That is the only way I can see you getting $1.50 movies.
luvmykids replied: We have a cheapie theatre too....matinees are $1.25 and evening showings are $2.00, they show them after they've had their run at the big theatres
mom21kid2dogs replied: We're so lucky here. We have a movies10 that is only $4 a ticket (first run movies, too). Pop and popcorn are a buck. The theatre is about 20 miles away but well worth it. It's $8 or $9 in Lancaster. Bet dahnahs4monkeys knows what I'm talkin' 'bout! I almost had a stroke when I took Olivia to the Hannah Montana concert movie. I already knew the tickets were crazy pricey but it just about killed me to pay $20 for 2 hot dogs, 2 tiny drinks and 2 tiny popcorns.
ETA~We also live not far from a drive in. It's so fun in the summer! I think it's $5 a head to get in.
A&A'smommy replied: thats matinee price at the closet large theater.. we rarely go to the movies. Our local movie theater which is a tiny theater and they get movies really late is 5dollars
Calimama replied: Yeah back home we had a $1 theater in the mall!
California doesn't have anything like that here though.
MoonMama replied: Yep what they said. Its a $1.50 theater....however they get new movies about 6-8 weeks after the main theaters do. But really that's not too bad considering we never really go.
Our Lil' Family replied: I paid $7 last night for a late feature. BUT get this...I got a Margarita to drink while I watched my movie!!! Yeah baby, only in Louisiana!
We used to have a $1 theater, been years since it closed.
luvmykids replied: Serious? Can't get much better than that
Cheryl, I am SO jealous of your drive in....ours has been gone since I was in my very early 20's but I'm determined to take my kids to one, somewhere
Our Lil' Family replied: Yep, serious! The ones here in BR don't have alcohol but they do back home so I took advantage of being home....ahh...I miss home! lol
mom21kid2dogs replied: Plan a vacation to Ohio and we'll take the kids to the drive in!!! I know what you mean, though~everyone should go to one once in their lives! Load up the pick up with the dog, the chairs, the popcorn and go watch a movie! Now THAT'S living!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: We never go to movies anymore because it's too expensive. I think the prices are the same here as most places - like $7.50 or $8 for a ticket (it's been so long I don't know if they've gone up! ) and drinks and snacks are so much too. I can't remember, but I think the last movie I went to was either the last Harry Potter one or The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe. We used to have a dollar theater but it closed a few years ago. I think there might still be a drive in around here somewhere - I've never been to one though. Once a few years ago before we were married Dh and a friend and I drove for what seemed like forever to get to it, and when we got there it was filled up so they turned us away.
