Ghosts.... enter if you you dare.

DVFlyer wrote: Cameragirl's (jennifer) post about her being able to see ghosts prompted this post.

Might be something we've talked about before, but I don't think I've told this story. While I've never seen a ghost, I am open the possibility that they exist. My mom has seen them.. and has been touched by them. ohmy.gif Yes... ohmy.gif

Her latest story- just told to me a month or so ago- was when the "Spook" group she belongs to went to a known haunted house in Colorado. They had the usual doors closing and odd sounds that one might expect, but what happened next is freaky.

Working their way through the house, they came to a large room. A couple of the ladies went in and my mom was third or so in line. When she got to the doorway, she started feeling pressure on her chest. The pressure increased the more she tried to go through the doorway. She could not force her way into the room.

One of the ladies looked back and asked, "what... are you scared?".

My mom said, "No, I can't get through the door... something's pushing me back".

She backed out of the doorway and the pressure was gone. They all suggested she try going through very slowly... same thing. She could not get through the doorway.

One of the ladies who was with them who has the ability to see ghosts said, "Ok, follow closely behind me and we'll walk through together".

As they were getting into the doorway, the lady said, "Oh....."

My mom said, "What do you mean, 'oh' "?

The lady said, "There is a man standing in the corner of the room pointing at you and making a 'pushing' movement with his hands... I don't think he wants you in here".

She never made it into the room....

They have no idea why this happened.

This is not the first time my mom has been physically touched by a ghost. It's also one of those rare times when I've heard a story like this that wasn't from a "friend of a friend". This is my mom.

Anyone else got stories??

lisar replied: I was laying in bed one night with all the windows closed, there was no fan in the room. I was sad about my mom dying, it was shortly after she died, and well I was laying there crying wishing she was laying there with me, and the a gust of wind came thru the room and up the back of my bed behind me. Weird huu?

stella6979 replied: I absolutely believe in ghosts, but unfortunately, I've never had any personal experiences. Avery however, has been talking to someone she calls "guy" since she's been able to speak. And even as a baby she would look up at the ceiling and laugh and giggle and wave, so Jeff and I do think she's sees something or someone, but we've never seen or felt or heard anything. I would like too though. smile.gif
That's pretty neat about your Mom, although I'm wondering what it was about her that made that man not want her in the room. Very interesting.

momofone replied: One time when i was young i saw a knight in shining armor in my room not sure what that means or symbolizes. dunno.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I lived in a haunted house when I was a kid. All sorts of odd things happened in that house. At night I would lay in bed and listen to things being moved around in the attic.

Now Jade she's the one who sees ghosts. When we lived in Hawaii I went out to the Arizona with a friend and Jade. She was about 1. Mind you this was early in the day so you could not see your reflection in the water. Jade would look down and smile, laugh and wave hello. The only child on the memorial who was doing this. My friend Tonya worked in the PACAF building on Hickam. This building still has bullet holes in it from the day Pearl Harbor was attacked. The 3rd floor was used as a morgue after the attack. She was all right until we got to this one room and then she would get very upset. This happened everytime we went in there. There is a Cracker Barrel in Naples Fl that was robbed back in 1996. Three people were killed during the robbery. We went there when she was almost 4. Got all the way to where the store turns into the resturant and she just stops looks at me and says mommy I don't want to go in there. She would not sleep in the dark for the longest time because of the man who used to be in her room when we lived in Maryland. Probably one of the latest instances is when she told our next door neighbor about waving to the lady in the roses. Our neighbor buried her Mom's ashes in the roses.

DVFlyer replied:
ohmy.gif I'll bet your neighbor was shocked when she said that!

cameragirl21 replied: I've been touched by ghosts quite a few times, and worse...if I told stories some of you would have a hard time sleeping at night so I will keep them to myself.
DVFlyer--it's likely that ghost saw some reason that your mom would be a threat to him, that is why he didn't let her in. Ghosts do guard their territory and I recall one time that my friend and I went into a place that I knew was haunted the second I stepped in and I walked in easily but my friend wasn't pushed out but just felt uneasy there, like she wanted to leave and I was like, "that woman upstairs doesn't like you" and I had no idea where that came from, I said it spontaneously because I had no idea she didn't want to go in, she didn't say anything to me until after I said that.
ETA--I should add that the house was abandoned and no person lived there...there was no physical person upstairs, not one who was of this Earth, anyway, but she was there and didn't like my friend. Btw, this was in a small town where there are many spiritualists so there are also many ghosts...one followed me home...this was about 5 hours away, close to Daytona, I live in Miami, and that was the first time in my adult life that a ghost really freaked me out. She lived right outside my bedroom window and taunted me every night and every morning. dry.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied:
She was shocked and I was like oh that's just Jade. I have grown quite used to it. Oh thought of another one. We have this old plantation house here in Tallahassee that is part of a museum. She went in, but was very cautious about it, then told me she used to live in the house. Now that actually freaked me out a bit.

gr33n3y3z replied: Just last week mind you I'm not home I'm still not home I'm in my sons Apt. Building

I was sleeping on the couch and the chinchilla was running around in the cage like a mad man I was just laying there awake with my eyes shut thinking ok get up and pet him so he shuts up for awhile or just tell him to go to sleep from the couch usually he settles for abit until the next burst of energy lol

Well I opened my eyes up to get up and at my foot of the couch I saw a man there he wasnt looking at me at the time and never did as far as I know I about craped myself I layed there and didnt move I was like maybe he didnt see me bc it was dark in the room except just a tiney night light on the wall.
Well I closed my eyes and opened them many of times and he was still there then I went to shut them and open them again he was gone no shadows behind me meaning the couch no nothing then I got up the door was still locked

I could do a police sketch of him if I had to it was that clear to me
Everyone thinks I'm nuts and saw nothing oh well who really knows

DVFlyer replied:
You are bound by forum rule 65.3 subsection 44a to tell us your ghost stories.

DVFlyer replied:
Wow!

DVFlyer replied: Figured I'd add another story my mom told me.

Her and her friend were visiting the friend's family. It was common knowledge to the family that the house had a little girl spirit roaming around. Everyone saw her at some point. Nothing bad ever happened.

They were all hanging around out front and while my mom was standing next to an irrigation ditch, she was pushed down the embankment (nothing far.... just odd).

Then, when everyone was heading down into the basement and my mom got to the top of the stairwell about to step down, she was pushed from the back..... Luckily, she caught the low ceiling to catch herself and only stumbled a few steps. She turned around and no one was there.

They assume it was the little girl but don't know if she was being playful or mean.....

I guess ghosts don't like my mom??? She DOES have relatives that date back to the Salem Witch Trials....

well, I once saw the Virgin Mary...I knew it was her but I'd never seen her before, I mean not even in pictures, really, but I instinctively knew it was her so I asked one of my Catholic friends...described her down to the last detail and she said that was indeed the Virgin Mary...Idk what she was doing in my bedroom, I am not a Catholic.
Here is one freaky story that I will share because it may end up in the book I'm writing so if I can share it with the whole world, I can share it here.
Ok, so my graphic artist lives in Chicago, she has become a good friend of mine. Her father passed away long before I met her, he was killed in a car crash and I had never even seen pictures of him or anything. Anyway, one night we were talking on yahoo messenger and all of a sudden, my keyboard went nuts...it started typing by itself and the letters were moving so fast, it was out of control. So I grabbed my keyboard and regained control of it the second I saw an opportunity and I asked my ga if her lights were flickering and she said, "no, why?" And I said, "your father is here" and then about a minute later, she said, "now they are" and then my lights started to flicker....
I once saw the ghost of someone who was killed in a gruesome, famous murder...I was tempted to tell the person's family but they'd been through so much that I was worried they'd think I was just after my 15 minutes...but then I told that story to someone else and she said, "is it just me or are the lights flickering?" when lights flicker, unless it's a bad bulb, which can be the case, it is generally the sign of a ghost's presence.
That's just one tiny tidbit of what I'd been through...when I was a kid it was worse and it was terrifying, I'd wake up to see dead people in my room looking at me and at first I didn't even know they were dead because they were so solid. I was afraid to go to sleep very often....

My2Beauties replied: Hanna won't sleep upstairs in our house. The first fmonth or two we lived there she did with no problem. After those first few months she would come downstairs all night long crying saying she was scared she was scared. Finally after 2-3 nights of this, I said Hanna what are you so scared of, she those people, when you turn my light off mommy, those people come out of my walls ohmy.gif TO this day I've never asked that girl to sleep upstairs again rolling_smile.gif I believe kids can see spirits. She still will not sleep up there and we've been there almost 2 years. Sometimes when I'm alone in my house I swear on everything I can hear people walking upstairs, Brian says he hears it too. Our floors creak very loudly. We're so used to them now we just tell the ghosts to quieten down up there! LOL LOL! They do too, they are nice ghosts smile.gif I have a friend who says she has seen 3 different ghosts and had many different encounters, she used to creep me out with some of her stories and she wasn't crazy either. She was as sane as they come, I honestly believed her.

momofone replied:
Poor Hanna that must have been really scary for her sad.gif
