Gentlemen.... - about your wives or SO's...

MyLuvBugs wrote: So, do you spoil your wives or SO's on special occasions? Like do you buy her tons of gifts and cards and flowers and candies for anniversaries, birthdays, mother'sday, etc....OR do you have an agreement with each other so that she gets a gift and you get a gift and she gets a gift and you get a gift...to keep it all equal?

Just curious. smile.gif

IF THAT IS VERY ROMANTIC BUT! biggrin.gif !

DVFlyer replied: The spoiling days are over.... unfortunately. Not that we don't get cards and gifts, but now that we have other things to spend money on (kids, mortgage, saving), we have toned down "our" gifts.

TheOaf66 replied: some I do

Valentines-Yes usually a nice gift

B-Day - usually combined with Valentine bcuz they are so close

Anniv- Usually a card but last year was #5 so I got her 5 roses (fire and ice) which was our wedding flower and special delivered them to her (she did not get the relevance of the roses)

We usually do it equal but I think mine are more "personable" cuz she gets me tools and such which is fine by me

redchief replied: Not as much as I used to, nor as much as I'd like to. Lisa actually gets angry with me if I spend a lot of money on flowers (she's allergic and they die), candy (she doesn't like it that much). EDIT: I forgot to add that she doesn't like a lot of jewelry either. END EDIT I DO like to take her out for romantic dinners, but, unfortunately, my children and often our friends always (and I mean, always) horn in. *sigh*

I don't think I've been out alone with Lisa in 15 years. sad.gif

J-rod replied: i try too....but normally ill get a few really nice things...either expensive or meaningful or both. we dont need gifts...thats just how we are..

for first mothers day i got her a bleeding heart plant. (her fav.) it was planted a week prior....now its planted at her moms and we gonna move it with us to our house..... now we will always know it was her first mothers day when it was planted... snooze.gif

redchief replied:
That's what I was trying to say.... the phrase just wouldn't come into my filled little head.

i just read your post slower...and thats just how me and steph are as well. same things

MyLuvBugs replied:
Sounds like Lisa and I are in the same boat. My DH keeps spending all his money (which we don't have a lot of) on silly little things for me that I don't really want or need. Now I appreciate the gesture and it's really romantic (well, some of them are), but groceries and paying bills are more important to me now. sad.gif He just doesn't get it. rolleyes.gif

kimberley replied:
i am exactly the same way!!!! i fear he thinks i don't appreciate the gifts but $100+ on a Swarovsky (sp?) crystal means less money for groceries sad.gif

redchief replied:
Hmm... I'm not so sure it's so much a "don't get it" issue as a "we all know we don't do enough for the loves of our lives; the mothers of our children" thing. I know Lisa doesn't want expensive things and that's not what it takes for her to know I love her, but I do like to make her feel like she's my number one special girl. After 22 years there aren't a lot of things I haven't tried so originality is a bit of a problem. I'm hoping to steal an idea or two from you other guys. lol

CantWait replied:
sad.gif I truly believe in alone time, I hope you and Lisa get it soon. It's always nice to do something without others around once in awhile.

MyLuvBugs replied:
wub.gif You're sucha sweetie! I guess what I meant was that Dh just doesn't get that right now spending money on items to make me feel special isn't helping our financial situation. I'd much rather him cook me dinner than buy me something. KWIM? But he is more of a spendaholic than I am. lol laugh.gif

TheOaf66 replied: for me I spoil with little things...backrubs, helping any way that I can with the house, letting her do what she wants to the house, I don't really think money is the way to go since we don't have much of it laugh.gif
