Gas Prices

Kirstenmumof3 wrote: mad.gif This is absolutely insane! The price of gas is now up to $0.97 a litre! It jumped $0.10 a litre in just 2 days! I'm so upset! Is everyone else being hit by this really high gas prices? I don't understand how these gas companies can charge so much, it just doesn't make any sense! And it's only going to get worse from here on in this summer is going to be the worst for gas prices. We all rely on our cars to get around! This is just insane! wacko.gif

amynicole21 replied: In the US we pay by the gallon, and according to my conversion website 1 Gallon equals 3.78541 Liters... so you are paying $3.67 a gallon????? ohmy.gif I pay about $1.89/gallon or $0.50/liter now, and that is way too much. Am I doing this conversion thing right?? Wow. unsure.gif

coasterqueen replied: Wow! If Amy is correct that's INSANE!

We are paying $1.99 a gallon here and I thought that was insane. mad.gif It costs me $40 a week in gas just to go to work in my mini van which is not very far away sad.gif.

A&A'smommy replied: its $1:89 here and going up everyday LITERALLY! mad.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: We pay something close to $2/gal here. If I remember correctly, gas prices in Vancouver were higher than in the states.

I'm not totally opposed to higher gas prices. Mainly because I think we do tend to consume too much of it as a country. I think auto manufacturers need to make cheaper, more fuel efficient cars. Not that I don't love my crappy minivan but I would probably be just as well with a 4 door civic or something ya know? Gas is not an endless resource and so far, nothing that the US has done has increased the use of car-pools or mass transport in any considerable way.

Until we can afford a smaller car, we are just making sure we use our fuel as efficiently as possible. I only leave the house to take K to daycare 3 days a week and on the way home I hit the grocery store or whatever other errands I need to run. It's not fun but it is necessary right now.

stepping off of my soapbox now

alice&arik replied: I have no idea what the prices are here. I never put gas in my car, except maybe once every 2 weeks, sometimes once a week, depending if I have a busy week. Or else my boyfriend will do it, then it will be a month before I do it again.
But last time I did, I think was early last week it was $1.79, but that might have changed. dry.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: highest I have seen her $2.05 a gallon ohmy.gif

stinks.....

mummy2girls replied: It was 88.5 cents a litre here....its jst to insane how high its getting

maestra replied: Ok, drum roll please.............2.20 a gallon in Phoenix! Stop the insanity! mad.gif

Mom2Boyz replied: We're paying $1.89 here in Missouri.
I can't afford to go ANYWHERE anymore dry.gif

MomToMany replied: Yep, it's getting pretty ridiculous. We do LOTS of driving, so it hits us pretty hard. We don't really have a choice. Every other weekend the boys go to their dad's and we have to drive 2 hours one-way just to drop them off. We have a mini-van (of course), which isn't very fuel efficient. Thank goodness DH bought that $200 beater car that gets 25-30 miles per gallon!! We're paying $1.99 a gallon right now.

thumb.gif Kit_kats_mom has a very good point, though!

CantWait replied: We haven't reached .97 cents yet, but we're up to .82 with it expecting to hit $1.00 by the end of the year mad.gif When we moved to Edmonton nearly 3 years ago gas prices were around .54 cents and been increasing ever since. We use to be able to fill the tank on $20, now we only get 3/4 of a tank.

coasterqueen replied:
LOL, it's always cheaper in Missouri than it is in Illinois. When we visit our friends in Belleville, IL we cross the *border* and get gas cheaper in Missouri before we come back home. rolling_smile.gif

Insanemomof3 replied: I am paying 2.36 a gallon here. sad.gif

My2Beauties replied: It's $1.99 here in good ol' Kentucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mad.gif This sucks!

Jamison'smama replied: I think it is crazy also. I am spending a fortune on gasoline and I don't really want to cut back on driving. I hate not wanting to take Jamison to swim lessons or to play groups because I am spending so much on gas. We live in a city where things are a little spread out (not like Phoenix--goodness knows nothing is close together there smile.gif --but it is a drive to the zoo or the museum where we bought season passes. It's pretty sad but that's the way it goes I guess.

Kila replied: We're paying 2.45/gal. for high grade...and that's at the notoriously cheap place that I've scoped out. I used to commute to work but my bf and I moved so that I can be closer. If I stayed where I used to live I would be furious right now because I was filling my tank up every other day. ARGHHHH!!!!! Just thinking about it makes me angry.

Elle replied: It's $1.95 a gallon here in Hartford... It's insane! mad.gif bawling.gif

KatieLeigh79 replied: Its about 2.20 a gallon here atm, if you go to www.gasbuddy.com it will give you the local listings in your area as to who has the cheapest gas.

(If it's not okay to post a link like this forgive me, just where I was able to find the best deal this week, which still was over 35 to fill up!)

maestra replied:
Lol! That's very true! We're really lucky though- we live in the central part of Phoenix, and everything is within a few minutes drive for us. It takes me 15 minutes to get to work, and dh 8. But today we are going to my parents (who also live in Phoenix, just the west side) and it will take us 30 minutes to get there.

Thank god for Costco gas! We only paid 2.09 last weekend. mad.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: $1.89 in Dallas at our neighborhood gas station. wink.gif Unlike Jamison'smama we are close to everything here. I don't drive a lot unless I go into another suburb to meet a friend. Other than that Maddie's school is a block away...so close we could walk. tongue.gif It certainly wouldn't pay for ME to hold a job! With these gas prices and daycare rates! GEEZ!

cam&calsmom replied: OMG! You guys have it CHEAP! We're paying $2.20 for '87 & $2.99 for the higher stuff!

We're in Los Angeles...I want to pay $1.89!

Jenn

Mommy2M replied: $2.30 for Regular a gallon in NY! Its SICK!
