Ganglion Cyst...

Anyone else ever get these??
MomToMany replied: OUCH, sounds painful!! I've never heard of them before.....educate me Aimee!
texasp3 replied: Yah... Howard - on his big toe. The last one was fluid filled so they just drained it with a needle... now he has one that's solid and needs to be cut out. I don't think he's had it done yet. Probably waiting for our new insurance to kick in to take care of it.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I have something on my wrist that I thought was a tendon out of place, but Dh said that someone at work had the same thing and it was a cyst so I have no idea. The pain sort of comes and goes but when it hurts it HURTS. I hope your wrist feels better soon!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Well, you can see it when I bend my wrist. It is a cyst that just sort of pops up. Anyway, it is fluid filled. They are sometimes called "Bible cysts" When I was little my mother used to pop hers with a big book and my brother does the same thing. I'm certain it will be gone in a few days.

Ganglion Cyst
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Well maybe Dh was right. I didn't believe him before. But the picture on one of your links looks just like what I have.. but I've had mine for a few years and it feels like cartilage or bone. Sometimes it gets huge and really hurts but it's not bothering me lately so I guess it's fine.
Thanks for asking, Mollie!
coasterqueen replied: Ugh, I used to get them sooooooo bad in highschool . One time the pain was so bad and the doc said there was nothing he could do for it except some old time remedy to break it with something like a book.......so my boyfriend at that time did it. Yep, he broke it with a book. Y-OUCH!!!!! That was the last time I ever did that.
I don't get them so much now except very mild ones here and there.
Josie83 replied: Goodness me that sounds painful (and a bit disgusting). I always think its so weird when these things happen for no reason. My mum used to get these as wel, she would bash them with a big book too. Have you tried it? I hope it disappears soon xx
Maddie&EthansMom replied: When I was younger my mother broke one of mine with a book. Then, in high school I tried it and it didn't bust, but I was in horrible pain afterwards. I'm just afraid of it not busting. I suppose I could try it. It says 70% more women get them than men.
kimberley replied: yucky! i hope it gets better soon! i had a different kind of cyst on my earlobe that was fluid filled. it was really gross and eventually had to be removed in day surgery cuz it kept growing back.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I worked for a plastic surgeon and we used to remove these all the time, Kimberley.
The ganglion has gone down and doesn't hurt today.
A&A'smommy replied: OMG Eeeewww that makes my wrist hurt! I hope it goes away soon!!
Kaitlin'smom replied: never heard of this, sounds painfull and a bit discusting.
Hope it heals soon
My2Beauties replied: Sounds painful, I have never heard of these before! Hope it goes away!
