GRRRR...Does anyone actually save receipts? - For a YEAR?

luvmykids wrote: My TV isn't working and is still under warranty but that doesn't do me any good because I can't find the receipt. Of course, I probably saved until a week ago when I started packing and probably thought "Oh, why do I still need this?" growl.gif

mckayleesmom replied: I always lose reciepts or one of the kids take them. rolleyes.gif

Jamison'smama replied: I do the opposite--I save receipts way too long. For the big stuff I staple them in the manuals and the rest are in a shoe box--I have Gymboree recepts from 2004 (why? No idea!) I do try to go through them every few months and get rid of the ones for things that I can no longer return.

mom21kid2dogs replied: I always staple the reciept to the manual and file them. Now I tell 'ya rolleyes.gif

lisar replied: I have a file in a filling cabinet that I save all of those. I dont know how many I have in there. I only save the big ticket items though.

BAC'sMom replied: I have reciepts for batteries, tires, oil changes and brake jobs for cars that I don’t even own anymore. tongue.gif

Good luck you’ll find it. hug.gif

hawkshoe replied: Did you buy it on a credit card? If so you might be able to get away with showing a copy of your statement.

mom2my2cuties replied: My husband does - I am finding recipets occasionally from before he even met me and lived in Seattle. (8-9 years ago)

CantWait replied: nosmiley.gif nosmiley.gif I don't save receipts unless I want to make sure something fits, unless something is under warrenty, or if it's a gift. Otherwise once I get home, they're in the garbage or the bottom of my purse.

MyLuvBugs replied: Well..... blush.gif yeah! I actually have the receipts saved and divided up for each month. blush.gif I'm a little strange that way. LOL biggrin.gif

luvmykids replied: OK I'm the only loser mad.gif But I did call the place where we bought it and they can reprint it for me. WHEW rolling_smile.gif I did learn my lesson though blush.gif I love the idea of stapling it to the manual thumb.gif

mom2my2cuties replied: Monica - Andrew has this giant box they all get thrown in and he has one saying - "If the IRS ever audits me - they are gonna have some fun sorting through that." There is an story that if your reciepts and records are in a state of mayhem that the IRS will just not bother. smile.gif Doubt it's true - but its what I am told.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Monica... we throw out receipts if we know the store reprints them. wink.gif Otherwise, we staple them to the manuals too.

IMO - if it doesn't have a manual...it probably doesn't have a warranty anyways. tongue.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: I have to save them because of my daycare business. Other receipts though, it depends on what it is. Big ticket items we usually do.

TheOaf66 replied: we have stuff from 3 yrs ago laugh.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: I try, but I have to admit I am not very organised with all that. I know I have the big ticket stuff someplace, it would just take me a bit to find them blush.gif

Ellie replied: If I buy anything "big", I scan the receipt and save it on my webspace. That way if the house burns down or whatever, it's safe.

boyohboyohboy replied: i am really bad at saving these too, but i always say i am going to get better.

TheOaf66 replied:
that is a really good idea, I will have to remember that one

Ellie replied: I actually started doing it b/c so many places use thermal paper and the "ink" rubs off after a few months or so.

coasterqueen replied: Glad they can print you a receipt. I always keep receipts stapled to the manuals and then put them in a file (or two or three, lol) in the filing cabinet. I have a file for large appliances and such and then one for small appliances and such.
