For those with girls...

mummy2girls wrote: i think Jenna may have a yeast infection:( i have never had one in my whole entire life so this i have no idea about...

For the past 2 days she has been saying owie and scratching her vagina. So i look at it a few minutes ago when i was gettign her ready for bed and it is bright red. Is this a yeast infection? Im going to get her in to her ped as soon as i can but in the meantime what can i do to ease the pain and itchyness?

Bee_Kay replied: It could be a yeast infection, does she have any discharge (like white-ish)?

Or it could be from not wiping very well, kind of like a diaper rash? Try Desitin, A&D or something like that.
If you don't have either, try corn starch. I know it sounds weird, but that is the ONLY thing that would work on Ashley for diaper rash when she was a baby.

Let me know.

mummy2girls replied:
no discharge.. just bright red! and major itching...

AlexsPajamaMama replied: Bright red sounds like a yeast infection to me.
My DS had one not too long ago....from taking bubble baths! I did not know little boys could get them!
Put an antifungal cream on it, like you would put on jock itch...I know it sounds weird but seriously, it really works.
My mom told me to put that on DS to see if it would clear up...and when I brought him to the ped he perscribed a perscription strength antifungal cream!!!

b&bsmom replied: Brit gets that way from not wiping well. Just use diaper cream it will make it feel better and help it clear up. If that doesn't work get her to the doctor. Let us know what happens.

mummy2girls replied:
im going to stay away from the antifungal cream just until i get her in to her ped to see if thats what it is... her ped is pretty good and will squeeze a child in if need be:) But i was thinking vaseline? babypowder? stuff like that?
Jenna never has bubble baths because she hates it so i think maby from not wiping properly?

Bee_Kay replied: Yes on the baby powder (especially if it has corn starch in it) thumb.gif

Just not alot... just rub some on there... enough to cover the area though. It really should work.

Seriously though.. plain Argo corn starch works very well.

My3LilMonkeys replied: Madison gets like that if I switch brands of wipes - did you recently switch brands of TP? Maybe she's having an allergic reaction?

mummy2girls replied:
nope same kind of wipes and tp...

ilovemybaby replied: Is there any broken skin? If so, I wouldn't use baby powder.
Vaseline won't do anything for the itchiness. It's just for keeping moisture in really.

I was thinking of Calamine lotion (you use it for Chicken Pox) or Pinetarsol Oil... but you probably don't have either right?

Aloe Vera could help. Do you have any Aloe Vera gel or an Aloe plant you can squeeze some stuff out of?

mummy2girls replied:
nope for all:(

she hasnt been as itchy today but she is still red and now some discahrge is coming out. So her ped app is tomorrow so hopefully i can get some kind of ointment fr it...

ilovemybaby replied: Poor girl sad.gif It must be so horrible for her. I hope Abby never gets one. unsure.gif
They will give you some cream.

luvmykids replied: Poor girl, let us know what the doc says/does for her and what he thinks may have caused it, I'm curious.
