For those of you with baby boys..
TeagansMom609 wrote: How do you change him without him peeing all over the place? I cant tell you how many times he has peed in my hair, on the wall, in my DH's face, or on my daughters head as she walks past the changing table. Im so used to changing a girl and not having to worry about that. Is there a method to changing a boys diaper? Help us out!!!
moped replied: LOLOL - I remember that. It does stop I promise. But you can expect to get peed on at least twice a day for the first couple of months
Boys boys boys
Kentuckychick replied: Ahh, boys... gotta love 'em!
Connor hasn't peed on me too many times, thankfully he seems to always have gotten it all out of his system by the time the diaper comes off. Though in those early weeks we all laughed at his ability to pee straight up and out the front of his diaper. I think my best friend went through more outfits in the first week before we told her she might consider "aiming him downward" when changing him.
With the other little boy I babysit, however, I have been peed on more times than I'd care to count. And yes, he's gotten the wall too, and his face, and well... even the poor dog! I've just learned over time to have the second diaper ready as soon as I get the wet one off and that works 90% of the time even if we do end up having to utilize a third diaper. For the dirty diapers though... when I have to take a little "cleaning" time... and there's no way around it, I usually put a diaper wipe over the area, at least that way it doesn't spray a foot in the air
Your daughter sure has some blackmail stories for the future... I can only imagine!
Good Luck!
MyLuvBugs replied: I know I don't have a boy, but I've babysat a lot of little boys. just make sure you have a diaper rag/burp cloth near-by. When you unhook the diaper, use the cloth to cover up the little thing. They tend to "release" when it gets chilled by the air. HA! So, just make sure to cover it up with a cloth when you pull the diaper down. Good luck!!
Freckled Momma replied:
Aren't boys fun? Being a mother of 3...well, I've been peed on a whole bunch.
I learned to either have a cloth diaper to slap over that wild thing when I took the soiled one off or another disposable diaper, towel,washcloths...etc But as others said, it does stop after a while...
You gotta be quick Good Luck!
MamaJAM replied:
We did this with our boys when they were infants. It worked well -- just make sure you're ready with the cloth the second you peel back the wet/dirty diaper.
coasterqueen replied: This is what my girlfriend told me one time.
CosmetologyMommy replied: LOL, YOU CAN'T! I remember one time I changed Aidan's poopy diaper and was putting a fresh one under him and he started pooping again! So I changed him again and as I slid the new diaper under his butt he peed in my face!!!!
luvmykids replied: For some reason, changing him in the bathroom (warmest room in the house) helped. Also, the burp rag over the pee pee trick!
PrairieMom replied: We kept a pile of baby wash clothes in the diaper drawer. We would put one over his little peppey when we changed the diaper. It really works. Good luck!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Lol
I use to just put a baby wipe on him when I took the diaper off. Andrew never peed right away when I took it off though - it was usually just if I took too long to get a new diaper on then he'd pee.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: we only got sprayed a couple timesfrom Matt...Katy was our big pee-er. We did use the washcloth on Matt but realized after a week or so that he wasn't doning anything so we stopped. With Katy we had to keep th ehospital bed pads under her for the first month or 2 because as soon as you moved the diaper from under her she would let it all out.
huggybugboy replied: When he was really little we always had to have a wash cloth and just draped it over him. It still made a mess but at least it wasnt in my face! A lot of times he would be a fountain and it just would spray off his changing table which was nice. I feel bad for the people who move in after us. There are so many things on the floor up there He hasnt done it in months now and I can even put him in and take him out of the bath with out getting all wet. So it does stop! Another thing. Make sure you point his little guy down when you put on a diaper. If its up or to one side, the diaper doesnt do any good. Good luck to you!
BAC'sMom replied: LOL.... I remember those days.
We used a burp cloth and safety glasses when we changed diapers.
coasterqueen replied: OMG! Megan has been my extreme pee'er! Every single time I would change her diaper she'd pee all over the place. She just stopped doing it about a month ago.
PrairieMom replied: For some reason, The Boy would always spray in one direction, twards the wall, so I would have to pull the changing table out, and clean the wall and the carpet! How do they always know what is the most inconvinient?
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Like everyone else said...buy lots of cloth diapers/burp cloths. Or when you're taking off the diaper, wait a bit and hold the diaper in place for awhile. Sometimes just the cold air makes them go, so although you have to work quickly, let the body adjust to the air a bit before completely pulling it off...and ALWAYS have a cloth diaper ready!
I didn't own one myself, but maybe one of those wipe warmers will help! That just came to me!
At a very posh boutique babystore in the city I used to live in, they sold these tiny little teepees!...it was a small swag of material that was shaped in a little cone. You put it on the baby's penis while changing him. Looked pretty silly to me and of course something you could easily make yourself. They of course wanted like $10 for the little piece of material. So this could be an idea if you wanted to try making your own! LOL! I always thought the little cone would go flying from the fountain though!
