For those expecting...name website
coasterqueen wrote: This website is actually a GREAT place to see how popular a name is that may want to use for your baby. http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/index.html#forms
The year Kylie was born her name ranked 62 out of a 100. So that's not bad, doesn't look like I picked too popular of a name...or should I say spelling. I think there were lots of Kylee's.
Edit: Correction, I just checked out the other spelling (Kylee) and it ranked 164 out of 1000 so still not too bad. Very interesting .
amynicole21 replied: Eeek! Sophia was 20th last year. I honestly haven't heard of too many Sophias though... guess I'll have to wait until she gets into school and everyone has to call her Sophia D.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: How many Maddies do you know??? LOL!
Josie83 replied: Cassie (well Cassandra) is 125, but that's in the States I presume. I've never net another person called Cassie, though, so I don't its too popular over here! xx
MommyToAshley replied: Ashley was #8.
But, I still love the name and couldn't imagine her being called anything else. We did almost spell it Ashleigh but I thought I would make life simple for her.
MomToMany replied: In 2002, Hannah was #3. But I've always wanted a daughter with the name Hannah Rose, and I finally got one! It suits her perfectly. I really didn't think it was that popular !
Kayla was 16th for this year, so not as popylar as Hannah.
I was surprised to see "Logan" on the Girls' list! To me, it's a totally boy's name! I hope my Logan doesn't get teased or anything !
Josie83 replied: I can't believe Logan was on the girls list either! I can't imagine a girl getting called that. I'm sure he won't get teased at all, I think its a totally masculine name!! xx
Lollie replied: Wow!!!
Brianna ranked 17th!!! Mmmm..thats weird cos I dont knoiw any other Brianna's on this side of the world!!It seems its quite popular there!
coasterqueen replied: Yeah, if we have a boy I want to name him Tyler and that name is VERY VERY popular...but I don't care. I think the whole thing about names are so overated, lol. Does most people like their name no matter how much thought a parent puts into it???????????? I don't. ROFL.
coasterqueen replied: I haven't encountered any Sophias IRL yet, but I've encountered a TON of moms on boards that have named their dd's that, lol. It's still a beautiful name .
Tamatha replied: DH and I were talking this weekend about pregnancy and having babies and such. We aren't pregnant yet, but we are TTC. I asked him if, when we do get pg, does he want to know the sex of the baby beforehand. He and I agree that we probably won't find out, but that could change between now and then! I mentioned that if we don't find out, we need to have a name picked out for each. That's when he springs the idea on me that he wants boys to have his initials and girls to have mine. UGH! Do you realize how challenging it will be to come up with creative names (our last name is Smith--I refuse to use a common first name with a last name like that!) when you can only use T for girls and M for boys?? Oh well... we have time, right?!
MomToMany replied: Yep, you got plenty of time! Hmmm, might be a real challenge though to agree on names with only those letters! It took DH & I half of the last PG to come up with names that we agreed on!
