For the those turning 5 - and those who have a 5 year old
coasterqueen wrote: For those of you who have one turning 5 here soon or who already have a 5 year old. What did/do you plan to do for their 5th birthday? Anything special? Dh and I feel it's a big birthday, not sure why since she can't start Kindergarten this year, but we do. So we are thinking about having a huge bash for her. She wants a pool party and cookout.
Just curious what others plan or did do for the 5th birthday.
luvmykids replied: I think five is big too, we usually keep bday parties low key and family but for the twins' fifth we took pizza and cupcakes to preschool that day and then had a bowling party.
lovemy2 replied: Had a party at a place called Village Sports with her "friends" and then had a family party and then of course on her actual b-day we had another party with just DH, me, Dylan and my Mom She had a week long b-ady for FIVE
Boo&BugsMom replied: Troy is reading this too, so I am unsure what he's going to say so sorry if I repeat.
The last 3 years Tanner has had bigger parties, so this year we are taking a break from the "party" thing. However, being that two of his friends are here every day, on Friday (his b-day) we are having a picnic at the park with them during school time, eating cake (he found a Ben10 cake), playing a few games, and breaking a pinata. My mom and dad got him a gift certificate for Stonefire Pizza (a Chuck E Cheese like place, but cooler), and when he opens it we are going to surprise him by taking him there that night. Of course, we also got him a few presents to open that morning.
kit_kats_mom replied: We have already rented out the "inside playground" for K's 5th. We are having a dress up party where the club provides everything but the cake & ice cream. It's going to be so easy and fun!
DansMom replied: We're doing the same---an indoor playground where you can rent off-hours time for a party. We have loads of choices near our house. It costs about 200 dollars.
My friend had a magician/clown---a very good one that used small critters and made balloon animals in her show. The birthday boy got to be her assistant during the magic tricks. The kids LOVED it.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Maddie had a pool party on her 5th. Which is pretty much what she's done every year.
alice&arik replied: We usually just have family and friends over for his parties. This year I didn't want to have it here, or outside because of the heat so we are doing a pool party. He can have as many kids as he wants there, but I let him invite 10 from school-most don't show anyway.
He told me that only PRETTY girls can go, I told him that wasn't nice. And when I was asking him who he wanted to invite he would only name of girls. So I made him invite 5 boys and 5 girls. Then I invited friends that have kids too. So I guess it is kinda a big thing this year.
MommyToAshley replied: I haven't scheduled Ashley's party yet, but I think we might have it at Pump it Up. http://piuhome.com/StoreSlideShow.aspx
my2monkeyboys replied: We haven't decided.... it kind of depends on what we get him. We're thinking about a wood swing set, which runs about $500. (I know...SO expensive, but his little metal swing set is too small for him now. All he'll do is use the swing on it, not the slide or the see-saw thing.) If they still have it when it gets close to his b-day we'll do a cheap, at-home party with just a few friends/family. If they don't have one we've thought about this place called Jumpin' Beans. It's a whole warehouse full of inflatables.
jcc64 replied: God, idk yet. Corey's b-day's at a very inconvenient time- always right around Labor Day, we're always travelling back from our vacation, everyone else is away, and it's the w/e before school begins around here. So, I may push it back a few weeks. I was thinking a gymnastics party or bowling. Tbh, basic backyard b-days always seem to be the most fun- but I'm so lazy about it. It's so much work and winds up being more $$$ than if you do it at an outside venue.
coasterqueen replied: Yes, I agree. Kylie's birthday is at a bad time, too, obviously. I've already pushed back the date of her party twice now due to other invitations we've already received for other events. Not only that but we have a wedding she's in right around that time.
I would much prefer to go somewhere for the party, but she REALLY wants to have a pool party and a big bonfire cook-out. It is definitely going to be way too expensive, but Kylie isn't getting any huge presents this year, none as a matter of fact unless DH changes his mind. She just doesn't need anything and others will buy for her.
I so wish she'd pick another venue than our backyard.
C&K*s Mommie replied: I am thinking of having a party at Michael's Crafts for a couple of kids for her, we used to go to the kids craft day at Micheals on Saturdays (have not been in awhile though) and my girls loved it! It will get pricey if we have many kids but I am thinking of having just a couple to make small crafts, plus a small party. She is wanting a Belle & Cinderella (basically a Disney Princess party ) party this yr. I let my girls choose the theme, and I choose the location.
