The one I think I'm going to try is a division of Catholic Charities but you don't have to qualify or anything, they benefit because the more people they have, the bigger amounts they can get in bulk. This one, unlike some others, doesn't have any memberships, minimum orders, or required volunteer time. They also have a lot of name brands, this isn't close to expiration or "bad batch" type stuff.

Food co-op
The way this one works is you order by a certain date and pick up on the last Saturday of the month. Last month they had 85% lean ground beef for $1.00 a pound  I'm trying to cut our grocery budget in half and think this will help.
This was July's package for $25, they also have a la carte items:

Those are great savings, especially with the meat.
I nearly croke everytime I go to buy meat or poultry at the store, and I see what the prices have gone up to now.

Rocky, there are food Co-ops in Canada, look under Independent Co-op or Co-op grocery.

TANNER'S MOM replied: I do this.. My sister in law, mother in law, and all my old co workers used to do this. They way it worked when I was doing this was you got $75.00 worth of groceries for $25.00 and then they have extra packets you could purchase with meat and things. We used to buy 2 or 3 packages and fill the freezer. Sometimes they have things you don't like, so you give it away. Ours was called Angel Food Ministries.

This one gives you menu ideas and how much to order of everything offerred that month for their menu....it was still cheaper than my usual shopping.
Right now I spend anywhere from $100-250 a WEEK on food, and that is not junk food, steak and lobster 
I am kicking myself for not ordering a ton of the ground beef last month because it's not there this month and right now it's $3.49/pound when they had it for $1.00/pound.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: We have a church around here that does this. I've considered going there. You can reserve your package each month. You can also get the 'upgrade' for like $10 more. There's some GOOD stuff in there.
holley79 replied: We have that here and we use thier services. I also buy the extras and it's much much cheaper to buy this way. We have saved a ton of money. My mom also uses it. Here in NWFL it is called Blessings It's a wonderful program.
