mom2my2cuties wrote: Do you guys have any favorite foods or recipes that you like to have this time of year?
For us - I love Chili, Stews, Soups, Hot Sandwiches, and anything baked or roasted.
I am one of those people that I can't eat "cooler weather" foods any time but fall & winter.
One of my personal favorites is my husband's Loaded Potato Soup. His puts O'Charleys to shame! And my Granny's Beef Soup.
luvbug00 replied: My moms' cream of broccli soup. Sooo good!
Our Lil' Family replied: GUMBO GUMBO GUMBO!!!! I can't wait for the first cool spell to make it!!!!!!

mom2my2cuties replied: I think that is what I like about this time of year best - its the time for the old style country comfort foods
Naomi - I love Gumbo too...Do you have a good recipe you can share??? (Also a Jambalya one if you don't mind)))
mckayleesmom replied: Stew 15 bean soup roast
I become the crock pot queen in winter....
Our Lil' Family replied: It depends....can you get jarred roux where you live? I don't make my own and I can't even tell you how to so if you can't get a jar of roux then I wouldn't be able to help you!
mom2my2cuties replied: Yes I can - But I also know how to make a roux
mom2my2cuties replied: My Dad was Creole through and through and I never had a chance to get his Gumbo & Jambalaya recipes before he passed away. The only thing that might be dice is File Powder around here.
CantWait replied: I didn't know there were that many beans.
I like soup soup and more soup in the cooler months. Especially brocolli, cauliflower, and dumpling. Also chicken noodle is a classic. Chili is another favourite. Pair up the chicken noodle with a grilled cheese and I'm in heaven.
Kaitlin'smom replied: deffinalty soups, hot chocolate. BBQ chicken in the crock pot....YUMMY just simmer ALL day.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Soup is always a favorite..year round. Everytime it rains DH wants chili. I want things high in carbs in the fall/winter. Lots of bread, sandwiches, pasta. I love hot chocolate. Too bad we don't get really cold weather here.
luvmykids replied: Hands down, green chili stew. Posole, pinto beans with red chili, enchiladas. YUM
holley79 replied: I love potatoe casseole. That's my all time fav during the winter months.
hawkshoe replied: Definately Chili.
mom2my2cuties replied: Not until end of Jan-early Feb - But I am not even going to comment on the 90 degrees last december
