Favorite Fair Food?
coasterqueen wrote: Ok, our Illinois State Fair is going on this week and we spent Saturday there eating our favorite fair foods. Not so good for the diet, but good for the tummy.
What is your favorite fair foods?
Kaitlin'smom replied: FUNNEL CAKE, I hardly buy them but I do love them.
Our Lil' Family replied: DEFINITELY Funnel cake!!!!!!
Oh and corn dogs too!!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Definitely cheese curds. And corn dogs, and funnel cakes, and waffle fries covered in cheese, and mini doughnuts... I could go on and on. Our city fair is coming up next month and I'm soooo excited for the food. Lol.
coasterqueen replied: Well for us it's a tradition to go with the Vose corndog (they are the best at our fair), the Cuellers fries (no vinegar for me, ick!), an elephant ear, and mini donuts, oh and can't forget the lemon shakeup!
I really need to expand to other things as the fair offers a WORLD of things, but since it's so expensive to go to the state fair we only go once and that's what I have to have.
mammag replied: MMMMMM even thinking of Elephant Ears & Fair French Fries makes my mouth water.
CantWait replied: Do I have to pick just 1?????
I think my most favourite is deep fried dough with either cinnamin sugar, garlic butter and cheese or a host of other toppings. Around here they usually go by the name elephant ears, or beaver tails.
I can't wait till the fair comes here at the end of the month. Hopefully I'll have some money to spend.
3_call_me_mama replied: HMMM Let me thing.. EVERYTHING!!! Seriously though we are going in 2 weeks (thought it was next week but it' not ) to our fair adn I can't wait. Faves are: Fried Dough Italian Sausage with Peppers and onions Blooming onion Maple ice cream Sugar on snow Onion Rings Fresh Squeezed Lemonade Yeah I could EASILY spend $25-30 alone fo rfair food.. not couning teh rest of teh family! LOL
Brias3 replied: Yep, the Wisconsin State Fair was going on last week but we never made it there this year Oh well, better for me watching the calories I guess. However, my mouth just waters thinking of the cream puffs, cheese curds and corn dogs that were in such close proximity to me all week
CantWait replied: Sugar on Snow???? I have to ask. What is this delicious sounding favourite??
Our Lil' Family replied: Ok, what are cheese curds????? I'm kinda scared to ask, they sound awful.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Fried cheese. We have a Culver's here (which is unusual b/c they are typically up north) They sell cheese curds. That's the only way I know what they are.
My favorite fair food...the MUST HAVES are tornado taters. They are so thin and crispy (and greasy.) And I love sausage on a stick or on a bun. I'm not into sweets so I can do without funnel cakes and that sort of thing.
5littleladies replied: Cheese curds! Hands down! Like Aimee said-they are chunks of cheese dipped in batter and deep fried. Sooooo yummy!!!!!!
3_call_me_mama replied: It's really yummy... even better if you eat it with a sour dill pickle! It's snow (in teh winter its' regular snow but for teh fair it's snow made form shaved ice in a dish) that they pour hot bubbly maple syrup over. It instant;y hardens the syrup to a sticky/taffy like state and you eat it with a littel wooden spoon thing. It's so yummyt! (being VT we have special littel maple booths at our fairs even though it's not sugaring season!)
mom21kid2dogs replied: mmmm . . .Kettle Corn! (or as Olivia calls it-"cattle corn" Actually a more apt description of it, I think!) I LOVE fresh Kettle Corn!
My3LilMonkeys replied: Elephant ears, funnel cakes & chili cheese fries!
Basically...anything greasy, full of calories and sure to make me sick to my stomach - but it tastes so good I can't resist!
