Father's Day
bellymonstersmama wrote: now that mother's day is over. What does everyone have planned to do for the dad's?
coasterqueen replied: Well, I've actually been thinking about this, but I probably won't get too sentimental or original with gifts, lol. Dh needs some things to help finish our basement and that comes first over sentimental gifts .
I want to get him a new cordless drill, but they are expensive. His other one crapped out and he really needs it to work on the basement.
My other ideas are:
*A swiss army knife, with some special engraving on it. *Some sort of walkman so he can listen to his baseball games while we sit and watch ELMO (part of Kylie's nighttime routine ). *I had something else DH mentioned he wanted sometime, but now I can't remember. WAHHHH. Hope it comes back to me.
Now I have to figure out how to pay for any of this, lol.
EDIT: I think I am going to help Kylie make daddy a piece of art for work. I want to make tulips with her toes, lol, making a pretty flower picture for him at work.
MomToMany replied: I want to get him one of them laser level/tape measure things I saw him drooling over at Sears. It could be worse; they're not too expensive! Not sure what else yet.
kimberley replied: i have a few ideas in my head but it all depends on $$'s and time. i plan to make it a day Jamie won't forget
booey2 replied: Not too sure what we will get DH but we are having a huge bash/bbq for about 50 people the week after father's day to celebrate, father's day, DH's dad's 80th birthday and Matthew's 6th birthday. Need to get moving on those plans soon as we have it at my house. AGH.
kit_kats_mom replied: I think K and I will work on an art project for him. Of course I'll let him sleep in that day & cook french toast and eggs and bacon. His faves.
Then I'm going to try to get his friends together for BBQ at his favorite resteraunt.
I need to get my thinking cap on about a gift from me. I was just telling him tonight that he's such a great dad and that he will work really hard to get a giggle from his little girl. Maybe a clown outfit? LOL Just kidding!
Oh, and of course K and I will go on a hunt for the ugliest tie. We bought him one last year too (It was atrocious). I plan on making a quilty type thing when the kids are grown. I know he will never wear the silly things.
He's been so awesome since he's been unemployed. Taking care of Kso I can work, helping with the housework since I've been kind of sick with this pregnancy, cooking for us...the list of how great he's been is endless
jen replied: I haven't even thought about it! I think I will probably make something for him sentimental from maddy. Maybe a tshirt with her hand prints or foot prints on it, he would love that!
jem0622 replied: Not sure. Because I've done hand molds. And garden stones w/ footprints. Maybe some new framed pictures and a special dinner. Money is going to be tight. I told him to pick something before our bankruptcy payment goes up (thanks to the jerk who rear ended me). Argh.
Honestly...men don't care about Father's Day. They don't want all the fussing. They'd rather relax and do nothing!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: We always make sure we visit both my dad and my FIL on Fathers day. This year I think I will take my dad out for lunch and then go to my inlaws for dinner. DH loves these tripple stuffed baked potatos and chicken cordon bleu. So I will pick those up from M&M meat shop. This year we are getting both dads tickets to win a mustang. The Thunder Bay Historical Museum (where my DH works) is raffling this car off. My DH has asked for the Pink Panther movies, not sure where you can buy the set though.
bellymonstersmama replied: I think I've seen them at Best Buy if you have those were you are. My DH would probably like a dvd or video game but since he got me such a cheesy gift. I think I need to get him and Annabella matching Father, Daughter tshirts or something sappy like that. I would like to have a BBQ for him and all the other "Ammo" dad's (we are a military family and there has been a recent baby boom with everyone getting deployed) But the weather here is already in the high 90's
CantWait replied: NOTHING!!!!!!!!! LOL DH will be gone and I have no money and since he doesn't believe in it, then why bother
Mom2Boyz replied: I don't know yet what we'll be doing, but what ever Larry gets he'll be paying for lol Since I'm not working, I have no money of my own. Kind of stinks, but hey at least I get to spend my days with Conner
